ok so i am trying to figure out a battery drain problem. i narrowed it down to a certain fuse.

anyway, i'm trying to see what the amps are going through that circuit. so i pulled the fuse and hooked my tester up where the fuse was. so i set my tester on 10A and i'm getting a reading of .60.

.60 Amps should be 600 milliamps, right?

well when i put my tester on 200mA, it gives me a reading of 6.0, which would be 6 mA right?

is my tester just a piece of crap or am i missing something? i bought it at pep boys.

it's driving me crazy. can anyone help me out? thanks a million.

.60 Amps = 600mA, yup....
200mA scale = 6.0??? maybe it's over-ranging on the lower scale??? I don't know, that IS puzzling

6mA is NOTHING, shouldn't drain the battery... 600mA WILL drain the battery. What fuse is it?? I think the radio memory pulls like 15mA??

it's the rdo batt fuse. i works the radio and the instrument panel cluster. i pulled the radio and the reading i got after that was .59 and 5.9 on my tester.

I think it also works the shift indicator lite. There's a known problem w/ shorts in the wire that runs into the console...
Looked there, yet?

right it does work the shift indicator light. it's a 99 blazer and it's a column shift. should i still be looking in the console?

Nope..

Had we been made aware of which of the 13 cars in the sig, you were referring to, I'd not have made the suggestion!!:D

If you show 600 milliamps on the 10 amp scale then if you set the meter to 200 milliamps you will peg or blow the fuse on the meter or the meter itself.

Hi,
Ya gotta love those Chinese;they always keep one guessing. What better way than to sell you an inconsistent test tool? Go to the pawn shop and buy Fluke, and your guessing days will be over.

yeah chinese stuff is Junk! i ended up borrowing a fluke off of my girl's dad and i've since fixed the problem completely.
