I'm not sure where the rest of the $40k went into that STi at?

Cost of STI - $26k

I hear they run 13.2's bone stock with a good driver...

STi's cost 34k, at least here in CA.

I asked someone who owns a STi and they aren't cheap to mod.
3k gets them 60-80hp.

Where would I look for an alky kit?

Who's kit should I look into?

What should I be expecting to pay?

thanks.

Tune for 0 knock, 2-3 degrees is acceptable on shifts.

I would go with Razor progressive kit, link is under his sig.
Since you are using the stock turbo and intercooler, getting 10 psi more ( 14 to 24 ) would only happen with straight Methanol, maybe.

If you can find real GNX rims in great shape be prepared to pay for them. Forget about what condition the tires are in.

If you are still running the stock rims, 255/60 or 275/50 Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag radials are the ones to get. You are a sure thing with these and alky. Discount Tire can hook you up with the best deal out the door.

Before you go racing, make sure you spend tons of time reading up on these cars. Combination is the key and buying parts once is always nice. :D

I checked out Razor's kit. 500$ for alky kicks a$$! 500$ and I'll see 80+hp with the TE-44.

What does the TE-44 max out at PSI wise?

Should I get some nice MT DR's or the GNX rims?

The 44 i had was by precision with a 63 housing. i found that the sweet spot for it was 25, but i had it up to 28 a few times. As for the other ?. I would get the MT DR's. thats just me:) performance and V6 a$$ kickin comes first for me before looks, but if you have the money, DO IT. That's just me.:D

Does the 44 make much difference from the stock turbo at 17psi? Because until I get alky, thats what I will have it at.

MT DR's is what itll be then.

How do I contact this discount tire place?

Thank you guys for all your help.

Yes it does. You'll see there's a big difference.
now for the discount tire thing, i don't know nothing about that.

I talked to a pro racecar driver today and he said for everyday use, especially with winter coming up, MT DR's would be a bad idea. He recommended Comp TA's. What do you think?

My subaru wrx dipped into the 10s without that much work. 128mph! Big Garrett GT turbo, 50shot of no2 to get turbo spooled, ice on intercooler, 27psi boost. Sure, everything broke soon after, trans, con-rod. 3100lb car. But I still love the TRs more. I had a wrx wagon before my current wrx. It was so much fun to see the expressions on the faces of v8 owners after I smoked them. The STi cars do not take well to mods. They have too much computer crap. Throttle body is electric, fly-by-wire. Six speed tranny stinks for 1320' runs, need to use at least five gears. But I would like to say i am no rich kid. I work hard, and pay for all my own toys.

Sounds like you need 2 sets of rims and tires, If it's your daily driver.

You need some DR's at the bare min for good 60ft times.

The MT Street Drag Radials are NOT for winter use!!
This recommendation was based on your racing goals, not your all season needs. Comp Ta's will work when the racings over and the seasons change.

If you do not have the power plate get one. Running 17psi on the stock turbo and IC is asking to much, even with the plate.

"Like half tank of gas and half gallon of 108 octane?"

A half gallon of 108 will do jack to your octane points. If you are going to use race gas, you need to get your 93 octane down to around the 2 gallon mark and then add atleast 5 gallons of 108. Otherwise your mixing to much of the 93 to your racegas.

Get the alky kit and save your money on the racegas for the tires.

Thanks for the replies/help.

I'm going to scrap the racegas and go with the alky kit.

I'll use Comp TA's for now, and then get a seperate rim/tire for the strip.

Thanks for all the help.

Where do you buy alky?
How much is it for a "fillup" in a tank size as that of Razor's kit?

Sorry for the repost, but I didn't think of it all at the same time.

Just pick up a pair of alumium T rims and put some 235/60 DR's on. Better traction and you can drive to the track with them. Friday my first race was against a WRX/STI. It ran 13.5@104. It took off fast but I reeled it in.

I just got back from a track in Maryland, where about 16 Buicks rented the track. Maby half the guys ran pump gas and alchohol. People were running up to 25PSI with that. I buy 5gallons of methonol for under $20. I use it in the alchohol spray kit, same thing, just more like a fuel adder also. Or you could buy denatured alchohol from hardware store for abouut six times that price. Methanol can be bought at a race gas distributor. It only takes a cup or so to make an 11 sec pass. Five gallons will last one year. Unless your nickname is bigfoot.

Wish I could have had my car ready.:(
