Name that bracket

There is a bracket bolted onto the back of the dash. It has an oval hole in one end. Looks like its behind the radio.
Whats the brackets function?

the back of the radio has a bolt with rubber cover on it that sticks out which pushes into this hole and it holds the back of the radio up. Keeps the radio from moving up and down during bumps i guess.

I’m thinking it’s to support the back of the factory radio. It seems there’s a plastic peg that bolts to the back of the radio that goes into the slot.
Not a regal radio, but I believe similar.

I've seen the rubber tip on the back of radios, never gave any thought where that tip fit into.
