For those of you who read or replied to my original post in December 2003 of my experiences with DRW transmission, and the Hughes Performance torque converter the sold me. I wanted to let you know Small Claims Court awarded me a refund for the T/C from Hughes Performance. All I need to do is return the new converter Hughes gave me to DRW and DRW is to issue me a refund on the purchase price as well as my court fees.

It is all I asked for in the very begining. Although DRW has the right to appeal, I would think they would be glad to be done with this whole thing, Althought stranger things have happened in my dealing with them so we shall see.

If you are not aware of the original post, it was deleted, not by me or by my request.
Summary, T/C DRW recommended came apart after 10 months in my car wipping out the trans. Hughes Performance said the particular model was not suitable for my application, even though DRW recommended it. They ended up giving me a new one after I posted on the board how neither they nor DRW were not going to honor their warranty. The new converter came with no warranty and was not to be used by me in my vehicle. I was to do what ever I wanted with it. I asked DRW for a refund on a product they recommended that was incorrect for the application, they refused.

Went to court, judge said, give the converter back and you get a refund, plus court costs.

I would think it should be easier to do business then this. Do the right thing up front and save time and hassles.

If I recommend someone jump off a bridge and they don't do it....can I sue them?

you could, most would think you a fool but you could. Your time and money.

How much hassle was it taking someone to small claims court when you don't all live in the same town? Did you have to do it in the town where he has his business or could you do it where you live? If in his town, did you have to go there or could you do it from your town.

I'm still considering taking my "problem vendor" to court. My problem is that he lives 3 hours away from me.

Thanks for any info.

Terry

I bekieve you have to take him to court in the same area as the business transaction took place. However, I can look into this for you and post back tomorrow. Did you go to his shop or order over the phone/internet?

Well just when you thought Don Wang AKA DRW Transmission Specialties could do no more it happened today. Since winning in small claims court on a converter insufficient for my application, I got bit again by Don's poor customer service. I had an appointment with Don today to return the new converter to him for a refund as the court ordered. Don was insistent that it be me that bring the converter to his shop. I arrived at the 8:30am as he asked only for him to tell me he was not going to refund the money and file an appeal. Of course he could have told me over the phone when I called to schedule the time to drop it off, but being the individual he is, he chose to have me and a firend drive the hour and half in traffic to his shop to just tell me this info. Nice guy, guess his level of customer service will never cease to amaze me.

I did learn something today, that if you have an issue with a repair facility, you can file a complaint with the CA department of consumer affiars/bureau of automotive repair they will investigate the shop for you, check out the link:

http://smogcheck.ca.gov/StdPage.asp?Body=/consumer/FileComplaint.htm

If the link does not work, search under bureau of automotive repair then look for the online complaint form.

If you have had issues with DRW, I know there are a few, and wanted to file a complaint, here is the info you need besides your personal claim:
