im going up to the track with a bunch of my friends next friday augest 11th was just wondering if i would see ant other buicks there other than mine

there were three up there last night  I think one might have got in the 13's

Ned

I would like to go up and get a couple of runs in to see what my car will run. I've never been down a track before so it should be interesting to say the least. I don't think I will be able to make this friday but would like to go when there are other Turbo Buicks at the track. Can anyone let me know what it will cost me to get on the track. Thanks, Phil.

I might be going too. We want to baseline Tom Fishers (gyrhead & sons) stocker on pump gas and alky. Hopefully he can get some 28" DR on the back first.

Ray, I'll give you a hand getting yours down the track too. Can't wait to play around with your tune up on Monday. I think that thing is gonna surprise you. I have a couple tricks I wanna try.......

i'd love to go, but gotta work. i'll have it all broken in by then too.

Russ, I talked to Tom the other day and he said he definately needs some tires! He's so into this car it's not funny. I hope he can get a better 60' than what he did on your "test" launch! He said he left some mean streaks  I'm be there for sure!

You aren't kidding

I'll be there too - under the expert guidance of Russ. We've got some Mickey Thompson's on the way, which will probably help the launch a bit. Russ will likely do the driving - at least for this friday.

Russ did try to show me the proper footbrake technique, but the tires started to blow away at 5-6 PSI, so I just let `em rip. Its been a good LOOOONNNGG time since I've done a smokeshow like that, and New Boston road still proudly wears about 250 feet of black posi marks.

In any event, this Buick has got me HOOKED bad - and we're gonna have some fun on stock parts with a billion miles on them. 27 PSI and zero KR is incredible, but if we break it -- we'll fix it.

See you there.

Which one? The asphalt or the dirt road.......... I hate the passenger side....... :D

Aw, gimme a break..

Russ,

We country folk like the dirt roads, really helps us hone our moonshine runnin`, flat-trackin' skills. Besides, you ought to be used to it by now, being from Cranberry country with thousands of miles of dirt bog roads.

Was my driving really that scary?

Further Proof That Turbo Buicks Rule

So here I am looking for some drag tires, when the phone rings. Mike (Pronto) calling to offer up a spare set of mounted MT's just in case I can't find a set before next friday.

What a great group of people - makes owning this car all the more rewarding!

Tom

Wish I could go!!

Good luck tomorrow Ray. I hope you run the number your looking for. All I have to say is anymore than 5psi on a street night and your 60s go to crap, usually. Have fun but dont hurt it either. Keep your eyes to the guages then the track.

Wanna bet?

I'm predicting 10 psi, no problem.......Maybe more......

If Ray lets me make a pass in his, I bet it will go 11.7-8ish........If it don't break.

Seems like Russ is going to have a posse going there tonight..
I will be there with the new alky install. Sparyin meth for all its worth :)

I can at least get a baseline of what it does & send the car back to Russ to play with its problems.

make sure you remember those time slips Ray! if you hit 11's your friends will never believe you!

no 11 second time slips yet hopefully there coming soon  but first pass after the 130 mile drive was a 13.0 @106 with a bad 2.14 60 ft and a 3lb launch but my second and final run was a 12.54 @105 with a 1.77 60 ft and a 7lb launch i would have ran more times but i got there really late and made my first pass at 9:30 pm and they close at 10 but im pretty impressed with the car and going back up friday aug 26 if anyone wants to go

9:30pm WOW what time did you leave Ray 7pm. Nothing wrong with a 12.5, looks like the track wasnt hooking to well by your 2 60's you had. Are you going to sams on sunday. If so I will see you there. Jon

i orignally left at 5 but my buddys tailpipe fell off his mustang so had to take the other one off and we hit the road agin at 630 but then when we got on the highway i forgot my helmet so all in all we left at 7  sunday im working till 6 but i work 10 minutes from sams and i will be up there

I saw one of your passes. Looked good.. You did get there late.

My best run was 12.6 @ 108 mph wth Russ driving my car for the last run.
I suk at 1/4 mile my other times were 13.0 & 12.8

that was my 3rd time up to the track but russ helped me out big time by doing one hell of a job building my tranny and tuning my car i wish i got there earlier :frown:

I wish you got there earlier too dude. We would have done better than 12.5 for sure....

Little more practice, you'll get the 60' down and start getting the ets it's capable of. 12.5s are a start though, nice job drivin Ray.
