hey everyone i need help bad i need a down pipe and im looking for a 2 1/2 work on a hot air if anyone knows any place where i can order one please let me know its the last thing stopin my car from being on the road

ATR

Check out www.atrperformance.com.

They sell the DP yuo are looking for.
I got one of those plus the x-over and headers. Add a cat back Hooker 21/2 exhaust pkg and it sounds pretty good.

i have looked on the site numerous times and dont see the pipe setup for 84 and 85 models arent they different then the 86 87 downpipes or am I a moron ?? =) probably its me im very new to these cars.

Yes, our downpipes are different from 86/87. ATR's dp is mendral bent and stainless steel...nice looking piece. You can call them and get a catalog....they have a few nice pieces for our cars.

ATR

Yup - mandrel bent.
I have them on my car.

You can call then - not everything is on their site. I might order a set of the Pitbull mufflers - they wern't on the site so I called and spoke to them. Got them in stock - and many other parts not listed on the site.

also what is the test pipe, up pipe and crossover pipe everyone seems to do.

test pipe goes in place of the cat... if you have a gutted cat you dont need this.. if you already dont have a cat then you also dont need this.

up pipe is usually replaced because the stockers crack...

and i dont know why people replace the crossover with the stock headers.. its bigger inside (im pretty sure) and that's useless with stock headers.. especially because the passenger side hotair header blows goats. the dr side is good for 10's like on IC cars (namely because its the same part...)

the down pipe isnt in there catalog but they sell it the part number is dp101-4 it is different from the 86s and 87s and as most probably know a muffler shop cant bend that pipe but they do sell it for the 84s and 85s by the way how much where those pitbull mufflers i forgot to ask them

I have an ATR catalog and our downpipe, headers, crossover, racepipe...........full exhaust system is in my catalog........:p

didnt everyone just tell you this, before you called? the dp should be 139.99 unless the changed the price.. with the up pipe you will need a copper gasket so dont forget to get one.. its like $12

I made my own. mandrel bends are cheap on ebay if you buy them form the industrial supply section instead of ebay motors.

I used the stock elbow and had a 3" piece of exhaust welded to it at a local shop for just a few bucks. It takes a special rod to weld steel to cast iron, and they knew what to do. After that I just used a 110vmig welder (everybody has a buddy with one lol) and went to work with it.

I have a 2.75" exhaust, so where it comes together I am putting a cutout, then after the cutout I will reduce it to tie in witht he rest of the exhaust. That way when the cutout is open it's getting the 3" pipe all the way to it. When I want to go through the muffler, I'm not worried about it necking down slightly.

And if you have the new catalog the hot airs are represented by a picture of my car... The ATR set up is one of the best out there for anyone not able to "make" their own.
