Ok gents,

I have a chance to get a universal turbo kit for a future project. I am pretty comfortable with turbonetics, PTE, and garrett's models but I never dealt with the models for foreign cars. Here is the specs that I recieved from the guy who is selling the kit:

T04B TURBO CHARGER .69ar (CENTER HOUSING)

Intake: 3 inch
Inlet: 2 inch
Compressor trim: .60ar
Compressor Wheel diameter: 58.40 /68.00
Turbine Wheel diameter: 64.20/73.20
Exhaust Trim: .69ar
Turbine flange type:T4 flange (CENTER HOUSING , TANGENTIAL HOUSING)

Can you guys tell me what this turbo would be comparable to in the domestic world?

May be using this on a small block using low boost.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Chris

V2

Not trying to derail your thread I noticed you run a V2 Intercooler and intake conversion on your 85....Me too, I would like to compare notes with you.

I think it might be. Company is called Godspeed. Did some research and found that there are mixed feelings on them. Heard that they are not all that bad as long as you are not using them for high boost applications. Guys over on LS1 forum are using them and having real good luck.

Can get the turbo, intercooler, BOV, Boost Controller, and Wastegate for like $350. Know it sounds too good to be true but was gonna just buy it, keep it on the shelf... maybe in the works to turbo a BBB soon.

I have had success with them before, but I have had a fiar share of failures....

very hit and miss.

I usually dissasemble the units and check them out before running them. Machining debris and cheap bearings are the usual culprits... but on occasion we get ones that have compressor wheels that will not balance out. we believe this is just due to inferior chinese casting techniques and alloys.

but after a little work, comfirm there healthy... they actually run purdy good.

but in my opinion, I wouldnt chance an engine to a 150 dollar turbo.

Yeah, that was my plan. Was planning on going over it to verify that everything was legit.

I am assuming that they use off the shelf chinese bearings then?

Who knows, I may just pass on it then. unless I can get the whole kit for like $250.00. Then it may be worth the extra time and verification.

Thanks so much for your insite sir! Much appreciated!

Chris

BTW, what would that turbo be comparible to in domestic world? T60?

Chris

something like that.... its kinda hard to compare to anything... since the chinese are out to avoid copyright infringement they change things to get past that, there minds arent in the best intrest for performance.

Yeah, thats what I figured. This is a tough decision. Like I said, if I can get it for cheap, I may do it.

I have another car lined up that I am planning on purchasing. I found a 83 Regal that already has a Big Block installed. Has a 1969 430 Wildcat motor in her! :D I am thinking of maybe changing it to a blow through set up and only pushing about 5-7 PSI through it. Factory specs are showing that it is a 10.5:1 motor. Of course that means no high boost. :(

Thoughts?

i run cheap ones on all the v6 builds i do APET T70 Turbo with 12 Months Warranty for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand havnt had a bad one yet i allways go for the cast alloy looking ones not the shiney compressor cover ones they seem to be way worse (smooth shiney casting) the turbo in the listing above has done some 30000km or more in my daily and a customers just went 11.7@117.9mph in a 1500kg car and its had abuse since day one burnout comps drags and street use.good enough to make 339rwkw on a skyline engine and survive too.maybe we just keep getting good ones LOL .i have talked to a few sellers and they do get a lot of returns but mostly due to user or fitment error not the actual quality of the unit
