Anyone here running the VT mufflers? My drone is killing me. I hear from Turbo Bob that it's not the mufflers it's the header design. (that's how I interpreted that thread anyway) It's the traditional 2000 rpm cruise drone, and I LOVE a quiet car. Considering the VT's. What are your results? MUST HAVE FACTORY HEADERS, otherwise the test data will be skewed. Thank you.

I think I was the first to install these mufflers. I put these on the car with the Pypes system in May 2011 at Richard Clark's while at the Nationals. Bob Bailey rode in my car and got to hear them ...
I love the VTs ! I have no drone , I can have a conversation at normal levels ....
What sold me was their sound guarantee... If you don't like the way they sound , return them. I have a sound clip posted in another thread, I will see if I can find it when I get off work.

Yes I have factory headers..

I will check that in Bowling Green. Making passes through the mufflers and with the dump open.
Very happy with the sound.

Oh good! That's the only way to do it, dump closed and dump open, back to back. Will you be running alky when you make your runs? I ask because I feel there's less disparity between all the conditions from run to run when running alky, because I feel there's less chance that heat soak can mess with combustion because alky cools it all off. How far off am I.

I have factory headers, Terry Houston downpipe, an ancient Kenne Bell exhaust and VTs. I only get a bit of drone between 1900 & 2100 rpm. This is the third set of mufflers I have tried and are by far the best.

You can try a 1/4 wave resonator or helmholtz resonator to attenuate the drone. I've read that some people using the VT's have the rattling issues, but these were installed on cars with lopey V8's. Otherwise I've read alot of good reviews. Search around for a user that goes by BigRed585, he built a nice chart that has some general measurments for the 1/4 resonator.

Check out this thread for tips, and at post #527 bigred posts the chart.

Good stuff here. I've read about helmholtz chambers before. Hadn't thought to utilize it on an exhaust system in that fashion. Good shit here.
