Need heli core help!

I need to know if there is a better heli core out there besides the one that you normaly get.I have stripped out the block threads for one of the head bolts.I originaly had the pep boys heli core in there but now it won't hold.Pulling the motor is my last resort,thanks Jim

I think you'll find that HeliCoil is a brand name.There are others with different names out there.What Pep Boys used,I don't know.You should be able to just replace the helicoil,no problem.It should just peel out with a pair of needle nose pliers.

You may be able to use a thread insert , they are solid insert threaded on the outside and on the inside, inside to the size you need,they have them in stainless , or steel , thin wall or thick wall. You have to drill out the hole and tap it to the size of the outside threads on the insert, you can order them from industrial supply dealers like MSC, GRAINGER,McMASTER-CARR, you"ll need to get one of their catalogs to get exactly what you need.
