Need help figuring knock retard

Hello, I was wondering what I can do to prevent knock retard in my car? I have a scanmaster, and the knock reading only shows up at W.O.T. I do not know what boost I'm running cause I only have the stock dash gauge. I plan on getting a custom digital dash, and I was going to have the boost measure up to 30 lbs. I don't plan on getting this done anytime soon though. I have a TA-49 turbo.

Put in better gas or turn down the boost. Maybe both.
Knock is a bad thing.
You really need a boost gauge.

I use Mobil Super+ 93 octane. I am thinking about getting a VDO boost guage, and when I get the digital dash, hope someone will buy the VDO guage off of me.
