Need help identifying low overrun valve in the VB

It is the valve assembly near the check ball that you remove at the rear of the valve body. I have the same brake in my car and did a few others around here. Never had to change any back.

I see the check ball that you are referring too. Do get the valve out, you need to remove 2 metal bushings they look like. They are not the pin sized roll pins correct? If we are talking about the same location, there is a "cap" about the size of a dime that goes in last right? How do you get the valve out also I dont want to pry against it and it doesnt seem to slide out very easy and there doesn t appear to be a spring in there?

I hate trannies!!! :)

The lo overrun is the one blacked out in the diagram #330 you only need to remove the first large roll pin and plug to get to it, there may be another valve behind the other roll pin but that is the 4-3 if it is there. The lo overun goes in with the spring first the the small end of the valve, plug then roll pin.

Got it. I had a different valve out which I was afraid of!

One last question. In my haste, I removed the manual valve and did not note the direction of the opening cut in the barrel. Which direction does that opening face? Does it open TOWARDS the other valves, or away as in the diagram. It is #345.

Thanks,
Joe

The hole where the linkage hooks up is a through hole..so it could be installed 180* outta whack...

The KC valvebody I have doesn't go all the way through. Sorry! I think the hole faces down though. That is how this VB is with the one way hole for the linkage facing out.

What's a KC valvebody?

Also, I went and looked again, you are correct, its not a through hole, so it can only go in one way. I could have sworn in went all the way through but no..so that's good :) Maybe I'll put this back together tonight...

OK, so what model car is a KCF code tranny found in? And why would you want one over a BRF?

I got a KC 2004R for nothing and I'm gonna put a BRF valvebody in it when I rebuild it. Never said a KC was better than a BRF. The cases are all the same (I think) it's the valvebody, servo, govenor's that are differant. So when I'm done with this KC it will have a billet input shaft, forward drum, BRF valvebody, red frictions, blues in the direct drum, hardened stator, 10 vane pump, Bruce's shift kit, billet servo, band, and anchor. Should be sweet!;)

I was wondering too were the "kc is better" came from? and yes you are correct the cases are all the same, and sounds like you will have a sweet tranny when done. Good Luck! :D

I didnt mean to imply that you said a KC was better, I just didn't know why you had one or what they came out of. I know the BRF is the orig, and most desirable setup with respect to VB/Servo/Gov.

Luck.........I'll need plenty of! Although I'm not a complete F%$#@^ idiot, I've never built a trans before. I have a few engines under my belt, but no transmissions. I've had to learn everything else about the car myself, Now it's time for the tranny. The manual is on the way, Life is good!..................Till it doesn't move :D

I stand corrected, you didn't state that, I just misinterpreted and thought you were saying why are they better.

I hope you have a direct hotline to Bruce... LOL! :D all kidding aside they are quite complicated, but if you take your TIME! and ask alot of ?'s and are clean you should be able to do it. ;) Just ask Clay how easy they can be.... hehe

Yea, Bruce is on speed dial. I'm not worried, I have all winter and I'm pretty good at research. I also am being coached by a friend at Probuilt trans. He has done a million 200s including the one in my car now. I told him though, "I want to do it"! Just makin sure I have plenty to do over the winter! Just bought another block & crank also to do a girdle on. I can't get enough, It's like a big model only it works when you're done! Hopefully.
