I'm pretty sure these are not from a ic'd car. I think they are either hot air or a na 231.
the black bracket maybe for a na motor cruise control?
the other is a heat shield, maybe for a na motor?

Silver one is a heat shield for starter wires....ic or ha i believe...
The black one, idk..

would the heat shield bolt to the back of the head?
my 87 gn has the normal starter heat shield and also a small shield for the trans lines right back there for the starter, but it doesnt look like the one in the picture

I think the shield does mount to rear BOTTOM of head....it will make sense when you affix it in place...

The starter shield on a innercooled car has two bolt holes. The other part looks like the bracket that goes on the lower rear fender bolt right by the lower hinge. Acts like a shim for the bolt.

I thought there were two shields...one bolt on wire shield, two on starter shield?

thanks guys!
I've confirmed the bracket for the fender. I'll keep that around.
the heat shield does bolt onto the pass side rear head and makes sense how it bolts up, but its definetly not the same one on my 87 that bolts to the bell housing like pacecar pointed out.
its gotta be for a ha or na motor.
thanks again!

Just posting for history. Here is an old picture displaying the starter heat shield.

I'm gonna go dig out my spare motor .....there are two shields that I remember..... maybe I'm wrong but i just pulled my motor out three times last summer...
The small one bolt shield is for the starter wires and bolt to head.
The large shield in Jerrys pic has two bolt holes and is used for the starter...all for ic cars...

It is plausible the heat shield is off an ic'd car. Previous owners may have thought it would help performance as well. :p

The way mine was (60k mile original 87 car), it protected the starter wiring harness as it went up the back of the engine....I may just be losing my mind too...lol
