RPO Sticker

RUSS YOU STILL DOING THIS??

I am in same situation.

Some AZZ dealer who owned my GN or the 2nd owner had a trans am spoiler installed which ruiened my trunk original lid with mount holes. Having these brazed or leaded may ruin the sticker not to mention cost a lot of labor.

Buying a rust free straight lid & putting an original spoiler back on.
is probably the best way for me to go.

Since It is impossible to pull off my original RPO sticker to place onto a different lid I could take a photo of my sticker. Unless you need a hand scan?

Please let me know

Ok I have the paper from inside the door.

My question is this will it have all the rpo codes or will I just have to list them for you.

Also does anyone know if they are supposed to be in any special order.

I would assume they would be.

Did you ever come up with a price for the rpo stickers???

L6Steve: I wouldn't think the spoiler holes would be anywhere near the sticker unless it was a HUGE ricer looking thing! So, I'd be thinking go ahead and have the holes MIG'ed up. Use a piece of copper plate to back it up and the bottom side won't need much finishing. You can also get some heat-sink material from Eastwood (putty that looks like rope) that you form in a circle around the weld area to kill heat transfer.

1fast: Don't think the door sticker has any RPO codes on it (could be wrong though, I haven't owned a GN in a few years), so you'd have to supply them all. They are all in alpha-numeric order, down (number of codes / 13 + remainder) then across x 13. I only know what an '87 sticker looks like, so if you have a different year, your out of luck!

I haven't actually made anything yet because I don't have adequate information to produce a "generic" sticker, but if you need "your own" sticker repro'ed, that should not be a problem. The only forseeable problem is the material. I can print and die-cut with limited color (gray is made by limiting black output to a percentage) only on vinyl, which is glossy. My HP Deskjet only prints on paper (which IS what the RPO label is made from) with water-based inks and the image quality will be EXACT as far as looks, but the piece will need to be laminated for durability, then cut by hand with scissors (and you WILL be able to tell it was hand cut). Thus the dilemma: make a sticker that doesn't have the factory look on color, or make one that looks great, may not last, and looks hand cut?

Looks great Russ! Wow.
Im looking for you to maybe reproduce my door stickers.. Can you do it??

I was actually talking about getting my codes from one of the build sheets(the one inside the drivers door).

Then having you print an rpo code for the trunk from that info.

I will go look at it and see if it has the correct info.

Frank, I'll not know until I see what you need!

Here's what works:
  • #1 Carefully remove the sticker, protect the adhesive with wax paper and send it to me.
  • #2 Use a hand scanner to scan the sticker in place and send me the scans with accurate (1/32") dimensions.
  • #3 Take a digital photo and send it to me, again with accurate dimensions.
Colors will be a guess at best, since I don't have a digital spectrometer ($3000)!

I have a MSworks spreadsheet set up for reproducing one of the 86 stickers. It is not 100% identical to the original but it is VERY close. Maybe you can examine it and see if you can detect where it is not identical. The size is right on. Just enter your own codes into the rows and columns and replace the codes from mine. I have my original sticker but I have replaced my trunk so I am making a new sticker. If you print this out on Avery White sheet Full Label paper you will have adhesive backing. You will need to cover it with clear tape like originally attached to the vehicle. Hey, it's free if you need it. Unless u'd like to send $$ for my paint job.

Wow, resurrect an old thread!

RPO stickers are about finalized. Take a look here to see one. I'd need your VIN and ALL option codes you'll be wanting. Let me know!

If I sent anyone the MS works file with my RPO sticker info can you get in touch with me? My computer crashed and I lost everything. I never got to print it out on the correct paper. I know I sent the file with all my rpo codes filled in to a few people but i don't remember who.
