okay i have a 87 grand national.with 16ich black trans am wheels(the gnx clone wheels) okay i want to run slicks on my car for racing purpose only at the track! now i have 16 inch wheels on the front,do i have to run a 16ich slick.also size i was told was 26x10.5x15 or 26x11.5x16. i would rather go wit the 16inch.also does it matter what kinda 16icnh wheel i use??? plz help me out thxs alot greg..also i have alot of mods to the car to long to list no line lock though! plz help

get some 15" wheels for the rear of your car for track use.......there is a very limited selection of race tires available for 16" wheels........the whole world is available with a 15"

you can leave the 16's on the front....no prob

thxs alot,but i was wondering can i use any 15inch wheel.also is 26x10.5x15 a good slick??

Not just any wheel. If you are going to run a 10" slick, the minimum recommended wheel is 8". Find a GM 8" rally wheel, or break down and buy a light weight wheel at your local swap meet. Also, the 10.5" tire might rub. I have run 26X10X15 and 28X10X15 with tire no rub @ 10-12# air.. However, the inside clearance is very close. With 26" tires, you will have no tire clearance problems. Keep in mind, the fender well molding cuts the dog@#$% out of the slick if you try to do anything but go straight (keep it off the street). Good luck.

so i wanna go with the 26x10x15...now can i use t type wheels the hurricane ones..or how about some gn wheels??

I have the same wheels and mounted some Mickey Thompson Street slicks on my GNX wheels. 16 inch by 10.5's look them up on their web site. Plan on paying about $140.00 a piece. Skip the inner tube option, you do not need them.. There are other 16 inch slicks available as well. I bought my GN with BF Goodrich Street/Slicks also 16's, but they were bald...
Also - Try and wind up another pair of Fronts and run with Fronts all around. You can pick up another set of the TTA wheels (GNX look alikes) and mount them with some nice wide front tires as well. If you want the exact size I will go out in the garage and look them up, but MT only makes one 16inch street slick that is 10.5 " wide.

Good Luck
;)

jdodman..do u have any gnx look alike wheels for sale..dont matter color i work in auto body ill redo them and spray them black but it would be nice if they were already black?or let me no if u have any 16 inch slicks thxs im in pittsburgh..

I have the 26x11.5x16 ET steets on my car and they seem to work good on my car. With the HAL shocks Ive been a 1.51 short time w/ 12psi air and no rubbing but I dont think they even make the size in a true slick.

MT makes no slicks in 16" size....they make some ET Streets (DOT legal) and some guys have good luck with them

if you want a selection, get some 15" wheels (and not GN wheels....they are only 7" rims and won't effectively hold much tire)

6-B-Kwik - I left you a PM on the wheels for sale.

The GNX look alikes I have are 16 inch by 8.5 and hold
the Mickey Thompson Street Slicks (DOT LEGAL) just fine.
They have a 10 inch wide surface on the street. Made a
tremendous difference at the track, over the BF street
tires. I will admit I have never tried to purchase
Drag slicks in 16", but never saw the need once I found these
tires.

The wheels all are fronts off 2 differant Trans Ams...
