I just drove thaw car for the first time this year after installing new timing gears, chain, comp 980 valve springs, 60# injectors, TT 6.1wb chip. Car runs terrible. Missing at idle, missing and backfiring while driving.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

How old is the fuel in the tank, are you sure you have everything put back together correctly and don't have any loose grounds?

The fuel in the tank was rather low and from last year. I drove to the gas station and filled up with Sunoco 93. As far as grounds go I believe I have them all connected correctly. Although there was a ground wire from the firewall that was not connected to anything when I took things apart. I did not re install it.

Are you sure you didn't hook something up differently or cross something?

When you put the chain back on, did you verify you had the base time set and aren't off a bit where it's firing early or late on a cylinder or 2 or you didnt put a plug wire on the wrong spark plug?

That would do it, sometimes it's the simple stuff that gets overlooked.
Enjoy the car.

Welcome to my world! I go through all that work without screwing anything up and then do something as dumb as two of the plug wires that go on the coil. Lol. I could see it if they weren't marked where they go. I scare myself sometimes!

Oh well all is good now. I only had one other issue. A small oil leak where the turbo oil feed comes off the fitting into the block. I think the flare fitting must not have been seated. The car runs better and is faster than ever!
