need help runs like crap

hello I have a 87 gn I blew the head gaskets I had 80k on the engine and trans so I had the engine and trans rebuilt.Well I started it and it runs like crap.No codes are popping up the service light is off. The rpm gauge is at 4.5k to 5k rpm at idle its reading high but the engine is idling could the cam sensor be off or not stabbed correctly what should I check the rpm gauge was fine before the build

After the cam sensor is installed you need to set it correctly. Was this done?
