I just got done with my N/L converter install and without any fluid and car off, I decided to go through the gears and make sure its shifting properly. Of course, it doesn't.... So I pulled the pan and manually turned the gear selector shaft and it works just fine. When I put the bracket back on and shift the gears from inside the car, it seems to bind up. Car seems to be in neutral all the time. Even If I manually select a gear from the selector shaft.
What gives?
Didnt touch anything else in the tranny at all.

Do you have the key in the ignition to unlock the column? With out it shouldn't shift, as the wheel and the column are locked .

How can I switch the gear selector by hand and still have the car in neutral? Do I need fluid to have it engage?????

Drop the car and roll it forward to engage park and.....
Yes. You need pump pressure on the clutch packs you idiot!

You can use air to see about the 2nd gear servo through the exhaust on the pan rail, but the others you would have to drop the vb to see about.
