Hi Everybody!

I'm from sweden, and i hope you guys understand what i'm writing, and what i need help with! :)

I Need some help to get my GN together again!

It broke down 2 years ago, and i needed to rebuild whole engine.
And now, when i'm reassembling it in the engine bay, i can't understand where all the vacuum hoses are supposed to connect. I have managed to solve some of it, but there are still some hoses left, and i've heard that a certain Y hose is important to be mounted correct.

Does anyone have a schedule for Vacuum Hoses?

Next question, the Coil Pack and ignition module.
When a friends GN broke down, he borrowed my coilpack w ign module, and bought me a new one, cause he was selling his GN.

And now i would like to put the coil pack and ign module together, its four cables to connect with the coil, and with the new coil pack or ignition module, it didn't have a wireing schedule.
someone who can explain how to assemble the Coil pack and ign module?

I think i know where the "spark plug wires" (the cable from coilpack to sparkplug, can't remember whats it called) should connect.

Electrical.
I have a watersensor unit with 3? cables connected to, what is that about?
Then i have a cable that are colored black and white, probably a 16 gage, and i think it's supposed to be connected to the intake/trans fluid pipe with a bolt, is that correct, or doesn't that matter? (if it would be connected to another earth)

Does someone have a electrical diagram/schedule, if i find some more loose ends?

Last question for now....

At the oilfilter, i think something is missing, anyone have som pics how it really should look like down there?

It's not good that the engine rebuild took so long, and that i didn't label the cables and hoses! Shame on me

Best regards, Christer from Sweden

Thanks! I'll take a look at this as soon as possible!

But i think there is more connections than shown in the Vacuum diagram.

I'll soon let you know! :D

I now have looked at this, and there is something that ain't right..... =)

I will have to make 4 posts to post url's to other sites....
just one left now then =)

I even had some pictures taken at the right fender, and where the oilfilter is supposed to fit, at the funny looking water sensor and made an explanation about the vacuum diagram..... i'll post this after this post....

I now have drawn a "own" vacuum diagram, and there is one connection that isn't connected.

Here is my diagram, and will be followed with some pictures too.

The mysterious water something sensor:

and finally, the question about oilfilter, if there is supposed to something fitted between oilfilter or if i just should mount the oilfilter (two guys that both had a GN and a TTA tells that there should be something in between, but i don't have any more parts to put back, is something missing?)

Take a look at the pic.

Welome to the board!!!

Do you have a picture of the valve, A4034 / DR687?

The picture of the boost gauge sensor? = Yes

Picture of the valve with a missing hose. = That is your waste gate solenoid. It is not missing a hose. The other port takes a small foam filter.

The mysterious water something sensor. = Water temperature sensor.

Oil filter mounting question. Looks like you are missing the oil cooler adapter ring. It basically is a ring that has two hoses attached that takes the engine oil and routes it through a cooler mounted in the radiator, similar to the transmission fluid cooler.

The one connection is only sponge. The OEM disintegrated so I made one.
If you need more pics then specify the location and I'll snap them. My 87 G/N is still all stock.
Email me and I can post here or to your email. I can add them here in case others need them in the future.

hrhoward: Thanks! i'll have to locate the oilcooler adaptor ring then =)

copo: Thank you! i might need some pictures of the groundings at the firewall.
i found three loose cables. One is black, probably a 16 gage. one is black with white stripe, and one is a ground between firewall and engine.

Thanks again guys!

Hello again :)

But it seems that i don't have the oil cooler adaptor? and i can't remember removing it either?

i'll dig further in the garage tomorrow (suppose that a big garage isn't too good after all)

Coilpack fitted, vacuum hoses fitted, electrical is nearly there, it's just oilfilter adaptor thats missing........

You can screw the filter on right now if you wish. I have taken the oil cooler adapter off of my car due to a f-body radiator swap.

If you can't find the oil cooler adapter, then just run without it. The oil filter will screw right on.
Alot of people don't run one, especially after an engine goes. They are afraid that metal might be in the cooler and it might get into the new engine. If you still want it, then you will be looking for 2 hoses, the big adapter, and the nut that screws onto it that has threads for the oil filter.
Good Luck

heres the insde of module and coil pack hope:smile: it helps 1 wire with 3 lines goto top and then from passenger to driverside yellow green and blue for the individual wires

Thanks guys!!

i'm nearly there now!
Things left to do is:
mount coilpack with module (is that supposed to mount on a plate? and the plate is mounted to the bracket with one bolt?) i think it's missing.
sparkplugs
Sparkplug wires.

then adjust TPS i believe.....

Good luck!! The mounting plate (12) is attached to the bracket (14) with one bolt and also to the 2 studs (16) at the rear of the plenum. See here for a description of the parts. 1986-87 Common parts for Turbo Regals Kinda hard to see but if you zoom in it clears up.

p.s. Say, you wouldn't happen to know Nicklas Lidström?

i'll try to get hold of a mounting plate, but how should the bolts look like, who holds the coilpack and ignition module?

Sorry, don't personally know Nicklas Lidström, but i know where his house is (don't know if he still lives there)

The bolts/studs (16) look like a stud with a 13 mm hex bolt in the middle. The treads are different sizes on either side of the hex bolt.

As far as Nicklas Lidström goes, I'm a Detroit Red Wings fan. Have been watching him play for years. I thought the name of your location sounded familiar.

Ah i see! =) yes, he had (have) a house about 5-10 miles from there i live.

Ok, but whats holds the coilpack together with ingiton module?
