I ordered part number 25526879 from www.gmpartsdirect.com, and i just got it. My question is that this plate has 3 posts on the back of it. Is it supposed to? You would be able to see the posts sticking through the grill. Seems like it should be flat? Do i just cut the posts off or are they supposed to be there? I want it to look like its supposed to....so if they are supposed to be there i won't cut them off.

Not sure exactly how you're describing it, but my grill badge has 3 "posts" on it. The posts go thru the grill openings and there's a backing plate that secures the badge to the grill. Never had mine off so I don't know if the posts are attached to the BUICK badge or the backing plate.

Here is a picture of it. You might have to copy and paste.

huh, i think i'm just gonna cut the posts off and stick it on the grill....that would look much better than having the posts going though the grill.

Well you can do what you want. I sent you an email with a photo of my grill badge. This is the way they came.

Well if you dont use the posts be careful when you wash or you could knock it off. the posts are there to keep it on with a backing plate from the old one. if you have it

Thanks for the picture....it helped clear some things up. My only problem is my grill isn't like that. I don't have a backing plate for the posts to slide into. I just have an empty space between the grill lines. Is that part that holds the posts part of the grill? Or is it a seperate piece?

Then you must not have an 87 grille. Or someone cut the three mounting tabs off.

That looks like the real grill...same as mine. Maybe you can just make a backing plate out of a flat piece of aluminum stock you can get from Lowes or Home Depot.
