I finally got my motor back together, rebuilt heads, edelbrock operformer cam,42.5lb injectors, spearcon intercooler kit, new coil, module hot wire kit, 87 ecm, maf, casper led cam sensor cap, and turbo tweek chip well the car starts right up but wont idle it will only run if i hold the gas down around 3000 rpm. what do you guys think?

how do i check that? i didnt take it apart so it shouldnt be set diferent from when it ran.

You need a scantool in order to set the IAC correctly. Scanmaster, Powerlogger OTC etc.. Trying to tune these engines without a scan tool results is alot of guessing which will empty your wallet real fast. Plus-your engine still not run correctly. The adjustment screw is on the throttle body on the firewall side. Brad

I think the promblem might be the crank senson, the old one was caked and i cleaned it in parts cleaner? What do you guys think? What is a decent scantool for a budget?

I would check the fins(broken) on the crank sensor and make sure the plug is clean. Post your results. The best scan tool is a powerlogger by far. $250. The second best still around is a scanmaster which should be easier to find used. Others are OTC 2000 and 4000 and I believe D-link. I personally would wait and pay the price for a powerlogger on the front end. You can share logs with everyone and quickly find out where the problems most likely are. Take care. Brad

fins look good so does plug, is that a common cause of what im experiencing?

Usually a bad crank sensor means the car will not run. Check the spacing between the crank sensor fins with a matchbook cover. We are guessing here which usually means throwing money at the car and hoping it will stick. I would get or borrow a scan tool. Brad

Well found the promblem i had a bad maf but now i have a rod knock so im pulling the motor and switching to a 87 setup.

That may not be a rod knock,it's probably a loose flywheel screw or screws. Please check.
