I would like to hear some opinions on slavage/rebuilt titles. The cars Im looking at in question is in the high 30,000 dollar range. I know all of the repairs as told buy the guy who bought it and fixed it. It is a 10,000 mile car. He says you cannot tell it had damage becasue it was light. Then on the other car, it is a 30,000 mile car, identical in everyway. But it has more miles, has nitrous installed, but a good title. Just curious on what you would do for miles VS branded title. Thanks

no way, if i'm going to pay 30 something, i sure as hell don't want a car with a re-built title, forget what the guy said, he's gonna make it sound like your getting the deal of the century, insureance companies don't mark a car a total loss just for the heck of it, he's gotta come down on price, the day you decide to sell the car your not gonna get the same as if it had a clean title.

just something to think about:)

you do have to be carfel when buying salvage title stuff. because resale can hurt you later. but i have gotten great deals this way.2 yrs ago i bought lisa a 2000 ss convt. camaro with 5500 miles for $10,000. and it was like getting a new car for that amount. and that was after it was put back together and painted. there's good and bad. check it out.

I used to work in a late model salvage yard. You would be very surprised what little damage insurance companies will total some cars for. I would ask to see pictures of the damage. He should have something to show you. But do remember it will hurt resale value. $ 30,000.00 might be the deal of the century if it's a high dollar car.

Thanks for all of the opinions guys. Just to let you know that if it was a clean title on the 10,000 mile car, it would be a $50,000 dollar one. I know it would hurt the resale value, but thats why Im getting it cheaper also. Just the front end of the car alone would be $$$$!!:D

FYI, most lending institutions won't lend on salvage title vehicles, at least none I've ever dealt with.

Most of my vehicles are rebuilt salvage cars. If you pay trade-in value or less for them you can typically get that back if you were to re-sell them. Your best bet, though, is to plan on keeping it forever or until you run it into the ground.

I've never had trouble with insurance, but some states (NY in particular) make tough to get titles even with a "clean' out-of-state title.

Ive had a few reconstructed cars. I drive one every day (my grand cherokee) As long as you buy it cheap and plan on selling it cheap, I say go for it. Im just finishing up a 90k mile 1996 Impala SS for less than 4K total. It needed a 3/4 front clip and its gonna be my next daily driver.
