Hey folks, I need to rotate the compressor side of the turbo just a tiny bit to get it to fit with the i/c a little better. The sleeve keeps getting shoved off when under boost. I remember reading this during a search a couple days ago, but I cannot find the link anymore. On GN/T-type it says to loosen the bolt that holds the compressor side to the center section. I'm sure there are multiple bolts, but are they the 6 or so bolts around the very outside of the compressor housing, or the 4 bolts on the center section, by the oil connections? Thanks.

The six bolts on the outside. loosen them a little and the housing should rotate with very little effort.

Thanks guys... those bolts take very little to make finger-loose, I loosened them and banged on the turbo, still no budging. I guess I'll have to keep trying.

I can't tell from your post how long the turbo's been on the car, how much corrosion there might be, etc. But you might try lossening the bolts enough to make sure that the clamps are loose...maybe a small screwdriver between the compressor housing and the clamps. It could be a little aluminum corrosion kinda' glueing the clamps, backplate, and compressor housing together. Make sure they're not sticking. Also make sure you're intercooler hose is completely loose before you try to rotate the housing. HTH.

Turbo is a TE-44 with only 1000 miles on it. I loosened the bolts enough so the brackets moved freely, shook and struggled, and still nothing. My arm is aching now from trying to move it, and from UNGN's post, I must be missing something since it requires "very little effort."

Loosen the bolts and with a rubber mallet, gently tap the housing away from the center section, then rotate it.

If the two pieces arent corroded (hard to believe with only 1000 miles), sometimes rebuilders smear silicon between the two pieces to reduce leakage. Once the glue bond is broken, the weight of the outlet should rotate it down.

This is really pissing me off. I STILL can't get the turbo to budge a single mm. I have tried shaking it, tapping it, removing the lower bracket, I just don't get it. It is a Precision turbo.

To make sure I'm doing the right thing, we are talking about the 6 bolts around the edge of the compressor side of the turbo, right? 3 bolts hold on one (top) bracket, while the other three bolts hold the other (lower) bracket, with the wastegate. Right? It's driving me nuts.

Black, My turbo was hard to line up also. Me and a friend of mine put ours on at the same time and his was real easy to line up. I just did what ungn said and whacked it a few times with a rubber mallet and it moved a little each time. My bolts were brass or brass colored if your still not sure what bolts.HTH
