I am going to look at a 200r4 CODE CRF for my son's 85 Monte carlo. He doesn't have a whole lot of funds currently and I can only help him to a certian amount.

The guy said it was stored for 2 years in a shed.

If the fluid is still in it would this be good because no air could get through it?

What if I find the converter on the shaft.

Could 2 years of a converter warp/bend the shaft?

My intent is to just install this to replace his current dead 200r4, but I think I should really have it looked over by a trans person.

If broken down and all looked ok can a trans be put back togeter with current parts????? or not a good idea?

Feel free to add any other info.

Well since the convertor stays on the stator and it doesn't move I doubt that you'll have a problem with it being bent. I'd take the pan off at least and check for trash. Other than that I'd say get hold of Brian (bison) and ask his opinion since he's nearer to you.

Thanks, I notice in other posts that BISON does transmissions. Not sure if he does it as hobby or profession?. I would be willing to work with him on a build that would be OK for a 230HP motor.

I just hate the thought of lying on my bad back to put a used one in & it not work.

It's his small business. Brian knows his stuff and should be able to help you. He has a regular job but he does trannys on the side.
