i'm in need of a stall converter and would like some help and o2 from everybody. i just installed my new 61bb turbo from jack cotton and he said a GOOD stall converter should be next on my list.. he recommend something 9 or 10inch's and stall speed of 3000-3200rpm's also non lockup.. i told him i was looking at an orange stripe converter, he told me that those have not had a good track record with him, but i don't have 650-900 for a converter.. so is there anybody running this type converter with my type setup? has anybody tride pat's converter's from g-bodyparts.com.. they have a 10nlu converter for 385.00, is this thing junk or is it just a good deal? (you get what you pay for) thanks for your help :) Terry

Terry,
I have sent many of my customers to Pat`s. Every one they have built, according to my customers, has been on the money out of the box.
Thursday, I installed my new trans, along with a Pat`s converter. I am very pleased, and feel for the $$$ spent it is a nice converter. Drives perfect, spools nicely, and feels responsive. I am happy, and fussy too! :D

HTH...

thanks Brian, i was wondering if some of the other converters you are just paying for the name. i just diden't want to wipe out my trans with something that has a poor standing with the turbo world. thanks for your help :) Terry

Just my opinion....but unless you are looking to go mid 10's...which is doubtful with the 61 turbo, you should go with a lock-up unit to make for better street driving. I have heard good things about Pat's 10" l/u as well, although I don't have any experience with it myself.

Brian, are the one's you are recommending the 10" with the anti-balloning plates for $495 for a mainly street car?

That is correct.
I actually have one in my car now as well. And I am very pleased.

I also have a Pat's 10" convertor and recommend it. I had an Orange stripe go bad and it took out my tranny. Stay away from the Orange stripe is my .02......
