i took my 86 T over to the grocery store about 2 hrs ago. i pulled in and went to turn my head lights off and they wouldnt turn off(i tried it three or four times, up and down with the headlight switch. This is also the first time i have drove it at night since i bought it. My car has the sentinal twilight option(could this be the culprit?). I tried adjusting it and the interior lights every which way. I also tried every thing i knew(not saying much since i got this car 1 month ago) to get them to turn off. So when i got home i turned the car off and went to unscrew the ground to the battery, and they still didnt turn off, which they should have right? So after that i unscrewed the positve terminal off the battery and the lights finally went off. Please some advice, any would be greatly apperciated.:(

I don't see how they could have stayed on after you disconnected the negative battery.

I 2nd that. Can you find the sensor for the twilight option? I don't know where they are located. Get a flashlight and shine it on the sensor at night to see if lights go off. If that works, just buy a lot of batteries, and mount the flash light there. :D

Do you have an aftermarket alarm with a backup battery? Maybe the head lights are drawing current from the backup battery?

no i dont

I am really new at this, and before i bought my Buick i had never even heard of the twl sentinal option. Is it the equalivent of todays "daytime" running lights or what? I thought(i am new at this) they were a dimmer type setup for the head lights, not an option to use them during the day. Will somebody explain it to me once and for all, i think i have been misinformed somewhere down the line.

Hi,
The twilight sentinel option turns the headlights on at twilight, or also at low lighting situations, like tunnels and such. A cool system, to be sure!
