I have the 202/430 cam from Poston and the PE4993468 valve springs which I am ready to install on the stock heads with the stock valves, etc.

I need to know if I should use the spring cups from the stock valve springs or not. They have metal tabs that go underneath the springs and they seem like they would do more harm then good to the surface of the heads.

If not, should I use spring cups at all? I checked on Summit and at a local speed shop; they have shims but neither had cups small enough. I.D. would be .80" and O.D. would be 1.25-1.26". Any idea?

I'm sure someone else will pipe in but I'm pretty sure those cups are dampers and if you're new springs have dampers in the center you can throw the cups away. Of course, installed height needs to be correct. Maybe postons can tell you.
