Well I just drove the GN down from my parents place to my school, about 150 miles. I got on it through second gear but at the top of second it felt like it revved real high (neutral feeling) So I drove it normally and really didn't think anything of it. I continued down towards my apartment and i dropped it into 2nd to engine brake down to a nice speed and the car just coasted. I tried this a few more times and finally got the band to apply and bring the car down. I turned around and 1/2 throttled it and again towards the top of second it acted like it hit neutral. The shifts are still firm, 1-2 and 2-3. The tranny has all the goodies in it with an alto wide band, alto direct clutches that are dual fed. Does this seem like a sticking TV valve or something else in the valvebody? Thanks for any advice. I am going to limp it back to my parents tommorow and hook a gauge up to it but i do not have it with me. :(

I took it out again last night, and still the same, anything over half throttle and it doesnt want to shift into 3rd, it pulls then it neutrals. If i keep it in low 2 and go from a stop it will still do the same. It may just be my imagination but my 1-2 shift doesn't quite have the crispness it did, but it could be my imagination. Even around 35 in 2nd there is no motor braking and it feels like a 4000 stall or so but when it will catch if enough throttle is given. Looks like I'll be pulling this one and tearing it down.:(

Well i still have no pressure readings, down here at school nobody has one since all the tranny shops wanted me to leave it overnight for them to hook one up:rolleyes: Anyways its still driving normal, every once in a while it will hold second when dropped into low 2 from 3rd now, but the neutral feeling going into third is still there at anything more than 3/4 throttle. Now i am hearing a slight buzzing from the trans area that happens in drive but gets louder if put into low 2 and it goes up with the throttle. Is this the PR valve? I'm assuming something has come apart whether it be a band anchor or servo pin gone through it(have had both happen before) and thats why its not holding second, but maybe something else has gone and gummed up the valve body and now maybe causing the PR to buzz? Anybody?

Sounds like its time for a rebuild, If you have no braking in 2cd there is probably a band problem

Thanks Klhammet, sounds like a possibility but i noticed it seems to do it in 3rd gear as well when up near 75 and decelerating. I took the pressure readings today, not very good at all. Driving around it hovered around 95-105 psi or so and in the throttle it typically stayed 110-115, no pressure loss on the shifts but no rise in psi with the throttle and very low numbers. The numbers even seemed to drop in low 2 verses drive. There is a definite buzz coming from the tranny and im afraid the pump is damaged and maybe hurt my convertor as well :(

Is the tv cable broken? or binding? make sure it feels like it will spring back into the trans when you pull on it, If not most likely a pump or pressure reg problem

Yeah it acts normal, it pulls out and springs back in, i pulled it about 20 times to make sure it wasn't jammed up but to no avail. i'm pretty sure its a pump problem. Thanks for the help man
