How do I hook up a Neutral safety switch to my pro stick shifter. I see it has the micro switch. Where on the car do I wire into?

Thanks Guys

Neutral Safety SW

Dennis,

The neutral safety switch is B10 on the C2 plug that plugs into your ECM. This is the smaller of the two plugs. You can also locate the C437 plug located behind RH side of I/P behind the glove box. This plug will have 15 cavities. Wire will be on a black connector with 7 wires. The wire color is Orange/Black. The ECM is looking for a GND signal when either in park or neutral. Also look for the Orn/Blk where the stock shifter was. Hope this helps!

Great this helps, so if I ground the Orn/blk where the stock shifter was then this will work? Ill look for it tonight.

Thanks for the help!

Dennis, What most people do is weld the original linkage that goes to the steering column to the B&M shift lever. This allows the factory neutral safety and reverse light switches to remain functional. I'm at work now but I can snap a pic of mine this evening to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

What about reverse lights?

I have a second switch for the the reverse lights. How would I wire that if I didn't use the stock linkage?

Here's a pic of my linkage. Just cut off the section of the stock shift arm that the linkage attaches to and have it welded to the aftermarket shift arm. It's painless compared to rigging up two switches on the shifter.

actually I spliced into the 2 wires under the dash and ran them to the micro switches. Worked great, let me know if you need to know which wires they are I can poke my nose under the dash and find them....You will need to find a way to keep that rod in the up position though. I bolted it to the bracket that holds the brake proportioning valve.

Which wires?

tenright,
That would be great. I've seen many different ways to use the setup with welding or modifying the stock bracket but I'd prefer using the micro switches if possible. Please let me know which wires you used.

Scott Atk,
Thanks anyway. That looks interesting. I've never seen one done like this before. You really didn't have much trouble doing it this way?

If you have a welder or a guy that can weld it for you, it's cake. The switches are already there on your car.

damn wish you would have replied yesturday...I am on the road till thursday, so I can't ID the stoplight wire, the nuetral safety is orange with a black stripe. I will tell you what the stop light one is when I get back. I had the same issue with all this you do, I did not want that bar connected to my transmission.

Does anyone know if the quarter stick has both brake and nuetral safety switches????

Damn wires...

Thanks the help. No worries about being on the road because I happened to be out of town too. I did happen to come across an article that mentioned the switch had to ground the Orange/Black wire. I did this, checked for continuity with a multi-meter (one lead to the chassis ground and one lead to the Orange/Black wire), and verified that it was working (grounding the Orange/Black wire in park and neutral). Even so, The car starts up in every gear  I'd still like to know what the wiring is for the reverse lights but if what I mentioned about the park/neutral safety is wrong please let me know.
