I've been running the SM for about 3 weeks now. Since I've got some experience with FI cars, I've always opted to run higher octane fuel to be safe. In the TR, I run a 3:1 mix of Sunoco 94 and 100. This gives me a tad under 96 octane. I've been running this in the car since I bought it because I only drive the car a few miles a week.
Since putting the SM on, I have never seen any KR...never. O2's are in the 820-840 range at WOT in all gears, BL is in the 128 range. The mods on the car are...Walbro 340 with Racetronix hotwire kit, open element base lid on air cleaner, 160-stat and a few little petty things like a billet inlet bell, removed IC screen, etc.
I have a Thrasher-92, 237 regulator, test pipe, adjustable wastegate actuator and manual fan switch to put on, but I've been waiting to baseline the car at Atco first (3 freaking times I've planned to go and it rained... ).
I did buy a new knock sensor, but haven't installed it. Is it likely (or possible) that I truly am not getting any KR?
When I first bought the car, the wastegate hoses were dry rotted. The car would audibly detonate and fall on it's face big time as it pulled out tons of timing to compensate. Based on this, I'm assuming the knock sensor is working.
Thanks for any comments.

Until your O2s get down to around 750s, you will most likely not see any kr unless you are running over 16 psi boost on premium fuel. On your 96 mix, which is a great thing to do, I'm sure you could run at least 18 psi boost, depending on many factors, especially the fp and chip timing. Most cars have kr at lower boost levels also due to the inadequate stock fuel pump, which you don't have to worry about with the 340.

You will see knock mostly in 3rd gear when the engine load is most, and can test out fp and kr there. I don't remember what the 237 fp reg is set at, but you may need to get an adj fp reg when you start turning up the boost and need to dial in the fp. Test pipe and dual exhaust really helps these cars out also. I see you have the test pipe to install. Also the knock sensor has a 14 lb-ft torque spec, if you want to check your existing one.

Tim,
I've suspected the car was very safe. In any conditions...hot, cold...uphill, downhill...whatever, the O2's are in the same range and there is no KR. I forgot to mention that I have a convertor lockup switch, and that the O2's I see are with the convertor locked. With the convertor unlocked the O2's are ~10-20 higher.
The 237 is set at 45psi at idle, vacuum off as I understand...it isn't on the car yet, so I feel pretty good about what I'm seeing with the SM.
The car feels strong and usually scratches 2nd...I wouldn't be surprised if it cracks 13's as it sits. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week.

I have used my TC lockup switch a few times at the track but it is hard on the trans, and I most likely won't do that very often. It locks the TC into second instead of much later on in 3rd gear. With a good launch, 60' time, and good tune, you should be in the 13s easy. My Red T has only ran the quarter twice :) .

You can see a high 12 with stock parts fairly easy at high boost and good 60'. Depending on injector, you may run lower than 45 lb fp and still have good O2s. With the stock inj and a Thrasher 100, 45 lb is the lowest Thrasher recommends. You can get one of these Thrashers for $25, and is what I used for my car.

Tim,
I don't lockup the convertor in most cases (although I did against an SS Impala last night :) ). It does make a difference in the butt-o-meter. I'm looking forward to making some back to back comparisons at Atco.
