Our car is stock except for wheels and tires. I'd like to do a few mods to get more performance, at least to a very low 13 or high 12 quarter mile time.
What are the first mods to do and what vendors do you recommend?

Thanks,
Greg

HUM

1) Pump//+ Hot Wire Kit= Racetronix . Right now they got a good deal on both!!
2) adjustable fuel psi regulator= everyone has these
3) get rid of the catylitic convertor=run a test pipe or stright pipe in its place, an a good exhaust like ATR or whomever all vendors have good systems, or go the cheap route an do straight pipes out the back.
3) good open element filter like k @ n , or the big mouth system an remove a screen from the mas air, also @ the same time get a good hard pipe for mass air to turbo.
4) good chip= turbo tweak makes some good ones for stock injectors an bigger ones.
5) adjustable wastegate= to turn up the boost
6) alcahol injection= to keep that boost high on the street with 93 octane, with programming in the chip for it.
7) block off hot water going thru t.b.
8) power plate= everyone likes them to equal the air flow thru intake to cylinders buy as some will debate this most agree.
9) good plugs gapped around 32= autolite 24's or 23's
10) fuel psi gauge, scan master, boost gauge. get the scan master for sure!!
SORRY it should have been #1 It will help you alot to see whats going on with everything.
This is a good start then you can go to bigger things like= downpipe, injectors, turbo, convertor, intercooler, mass air, heads, gauges.

first mod you should do is upgrade the fuel system, as it came barely adequate from the factory. This involves getting a bigger fuel pump like a walbro 340 from racetronix or something similar, and a hotwire kit, which will boost voltage to the fuel pump for higher output. it would also be wise at this point to do a "spring cleaning" of the motor etc. to make sure everything is working up to par. an outline for things to do for a spring cleaning can be found on gnttype.org. Also, after that stuff is done, a scan tool like a scanmaster or turbolink would be a wise idea, so you really know how the car is running and can tune for no knock, etc. The scan tool is very important, as it not only monitors the car's performance, but helps you retune for best & safest performance when you eventually add additional speed parts.

Walbro 340 fuel pump and boost guage are #1 priorities. The stock items are not up to the task. Scan tool will help greatly too.
Try the Search feature, it will lead you to many real-world tips and combos. There are almost as many ways to get to that level as there are TR's :)

Check the home page here for a list of vendors...

Thanks for all the help. It's a federal car, but I live in California and need to keep it smog legal, so the cat has to stay. The car has only 77K miles and has a new stock MAF, EGR, wires so far.
We're very impressed with the performance already but as you all know we always want more.

GMTA buickpower... Great Minds Think Alike :D

That cat can be overcome too, with a removable test pipe or cut-out to free up some power when not smog testing...
