Saturday I ran some new personal bests. And to beat all it was through the mufflers on drag radials
First pass lowered pressure to 19 psi and 0 psi launch I ran an 11.76 @ 114.63 mph, not bad for street tune. Next pass kept everything the same and with a 4 psi launch I ran an 11.66 @ 114.76. They had the track prepped very good so the third pass I launched at 8-9 psi and ran my all time best of 11.42 @ 116.52 with a 1.69 60'. Then I backed it up with an 11.45 @ 116.37 in the first round of eliminations, didn't get off the line very good though trying to cut a good light and my 60' was 1.73 on a 6 psi launch. All runs with 24psi and 25º timing using Sunoco 116.
This was the first time racing the ¼ with my new turbo, but had ran it on an 1/8th mile track about a month ago on slicks. To say I was happy would be an understatment!! It had been several years since I tried running dr's and I didn't know how I would hook on them, BFG 275-60-15's. But the ones I had used before were smaller 235-60's and I couldn't do anything on those back then. So for the last 5 years I have only run slicks, but this race was DOT only tires and had to run through the mufflers. I thought I would run a 12.0 or 11.9ish, but never thought I would have run what it ran. And it was in the heat of the day about 86º and 70% humidity. I now belive that on my slicks I should be able to run an 11.2x maybe a high 11.teen on a very good tune. My last 4 runs on slicks at an 1/8th mile track a month ago my 60' times were 1.59, 1.57, 1.57, and 1.55. So if I can 60' like that I should be able to get it. Just wanted to share with everybody!!!
