Well, I had my new car out at Firebird last night. It was only my second time running this car, or any car for that matter at the track.

My best pass of the night went as follows:

60' 1.640
1/8 7.526
MPH 92.21
1/4 11.807
MPH 114.27

I'm really happy with the results; although I know the car has more in it. I think it really needs a bigger cam... (I'm running a stock cam with ported heads and a TE-45).

Just had to share in my excitement

Wow, those are great #'s dude!
Congrats on a great run and nice car!
BTW, how are your reaction times? You know that can win many races by that alone;)

That's a very low MPH for a TE-45. Were you on race fuel or pump gas? Cams don't make nearly as much difference as converters on these cars. If you were on race gas with that low of an MPH, I would seriously look into getting a converter better matched to your combination.

My reaction time was a .287, so there's definitely room for improvement there.

I feel that the MPH could be better too, as I was on race gas. I accidentally shifted into overdrive on that pass, and I was only running 22-23 psi...

I still have some work to do to really get it moving

Reaction won't have an effect on your ET or MPH, but that OD shift can defintely kill MPH. Were you locking the converter? Sounds like you got a sweet combo. Just needs a little tweaking. I wouldn't rule out a possible torque converter swap. I was running a PTE-44 and despite being smaller than your 45, a small jump in stall speed made a huge difference in the feel of the car. I was actually considering a 45 before I sold my car. Keep us updated!

Very good run! Your short time was great, also. What kind of tires do you run? That dude should hat when you get it all sorted out and some track experience. Keep it up!

The tires are M/T ET Drags. I definitely think there's a lot left in it, but I still have some bugs to work out. Unfortunately the car lives at my dad's place right now, since I llive in a townhouse that doesn't have a garage.

The T/C is a Billet 9/11 with a 3800 stall according to the previous owner, so I don't think that is my problem. Although I'm not sure if the chip I'm running is locking the T/C.

I also need to reinstall Windows 98 on my laptop, so I can start running DS again. I sure wish Kent Chu would make a fix for that.

That converter sounds nice for your combo. Sounds like you just need a little more tweaking, as your driving is obviously up to par with that great short time. Wire yourself a manual TC lock switch. It's easy to do and lets you choose when to engage it. My car always worked best when locking halfway through 2nd gear.
