just got my new billet forward drum from chris this week and reassembled my tranny today but i found out that theres no clearance for the friction plates at the overdrive carrier. the thin end of the input shaft can´t go far enough into the end of drum and doesn´t seat on the thrust bearing. should i machine the end down?

Did you cut anything off the end of the input that goes into the forward drum shaft? The hole is not drilled as far on the billet drum to eliminate the stress point there and the input has to be trimmed off.

You have to trim the pilot at the back of the input shaft

and make the measurement .650

Cutting the end of the input to .650 is standard procedure with a billet forward drum install. Don't sweat it.

thats it and put a small chamfer on the end so it doesnt eat up the lube/pilot bushing in the forward drum
