I recently picked up my 87' with 82k miles. I ran and drove great until i got home one day and was letting it idle. Noticed the ecm kick panel was pulled away from the actual kick panel. So i pushed it up where it belonged, and the car died. Now it wont start. I barely moved it and not with any force. I checked all wires, and fuses. Pulled the ecm out and did not see any burnt spots from a short. Car does have a turbo tweak chip along with a power logger and a two step/rev box. I have always been a mustang guy and finally got a chance to have one of my dream cars. But now have problems with it.
Mods are
Siemens 60 lb injectors
Alky Control meth kit
Turbo tweak chip
power logger
Innovate wide band
two step/rev box
adjustable fpr
manual boost controller
new radiator from a corvette
built trans, shift kit and stall
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
William

Key on engine off, does the check engine light come on?

BTW Welcome to the family. ;)

Check the prom chip and make sure it is seated all the way in. There's a plate on the ecm box with two bolts. Remove it to expose the prom.

Already checked that. I unhooked the battery and pulled the chip out and put it back in.

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key? Do you have a way to check your pressure?

Yea i can hear fuel pump. And there is a fuel pressure sensor on the front of the rail thats wored to the map sensor and i assume power logger.

Maybe see if it responds to a shot of stating fluid.

Will try that this evening. Just seems like it should be a loos connectoon yet i cant find anything.

Have a buddy coming over tomorrow with his GN and see if his ecm will work. But open to any ideas.

I would say since you were pushing on the ecm you either knocked something lose in the connector or shorted something out it you look at the top closely some times the wire will pop up out and not make good connection if you can see the top part of connection it's probably not making contact check to see if the ecm fuse is good I would hook a scanner see if it set any codes post what area you live maybe someone woulds let you try there spare ecm to see if yours is fried

Yes your prolly right. The starting fluid is to get us in a direction. IE fuel or spark missing.

do you know what tt chip is in the car?

I have had a similar problem happen when I was putting in new carpet I pushed up on my ECM to clear the carpet and the yellow and black wire broke at the connector that fits into the ECM look closely I'll bet its something simple

As you can see there is a blue splice on the yellow/black tracer wire. It seemed to be intact so i did not take the splice off. Maybe I will have to take it off and make sure its not broke?

Those splices are known to cut the main wire, when they are "crimped" on. Supposed to only cut the insul, but can actually cut the strands.
NOT the way to make a splice, for sure.

Oh i agree with you chuck. But It seemed secure so i kind of over looked it. I will double check it after work.
