Hello to everyone here. I've been eyeing a turbo Buick for awhile now because there's just something about them that scream's bada$$. So...I have been lurking on this forum and another, turbobuick(s), to look for information so that I can make a well thought out purchase and have a few remaining questions and recommendations from experienced members.

First, I looked around and found some numbers of modified cars with what i can assume were built engines, but I would like to get a general hp number for an 87 GN with the stock engine internally and a turbo-back exhaust with Alky. I'm not looking for too much power as that is what I have my 1000hp evo for, but instead something more along the lines of 350-400whp. Taking a tangent off of that question, what kind of boost numbers can the stock block take before the rods try and escape? I read of people running 20-25psi with alky, but couldn't tell if this was on the stock block or not.

Second, here is a link for a possible GN that I'm thinking about getting, and if not this one, one just like it. Is the asking price of $12500 fair, or too high?

Third, and the last for now is what brand of Alk kit works best with these cars. My past experience with my Evo has been that the Aquamist kits perform exceptionally but I do realize that with different platforms, some things work differently, so I'm open to opinions there.

Again, I look forward to joining the ranks and contributing to the forum. If anybody has any engineering questions particularly dealing with electronics don't hesitate to ask!

Hello Ben!!! Welcome to Turbobuick.com!!! :) Stock block and Alky about 350-375HP. Stock block, 93 octane, Alky @ 20psi boost with a good tune. I'm sure you'll get many answers on that one.

Welcome to TB.com. That car looks to be a good price. Looks like the hood insulation will need replacing ($100-$200). The hood bulge emblems are missing. If you are not a west coaster, I would look closer to home.
I bought my 1st GN last year and spent months looking at the prices as cars came available on the TB site. As you have probably seen, cars on all the other sites can have some astronomical prices. Good luck.
My engine builder said my stock block is pushing over 400 hp w/o alky. Learn how to tune it properly before putting alky on it.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm located in southern california so the car is somewhat close and rust free which is nice. Getting the car sorted out and 100% will have top priority prior to modifications...learned that lesson the hard way. If I can get away with making 400hp without alky and a stock or similarly sized turbo I will do that.

I have a stock block and pushing well over 400hp and has been doing it for years with no problems...but I have alky...Razors Alky kit is the best imho.

Lots of info on this site and these guys know their stuff. Welcome!

Thank you, I will take a look at razors kit as it seems to be a popular choice from the various threads I have read concerning AI. Out of curiosity, are there any reputable GN shops in Southern California, particularly Orange County?
