hello people; Lets say you want to go for a newer MAF sensor (not stock) does that mean you have to get a translater for it to talk to the Buick ECM? Is that true for all new non stock MAF sensors?
Imma thinkin about it.

You will need a translator. The newer MAFs put out a much higher frequency signal than the stocker.

hello people; So what are the benifits of the newer higher frequncied MAF sensor?

how's my spelling

They are better built and last longer.

The newer style metal ones are more plentiful and not considered priceless antiques.

hello people; How many venders sell the translater and the newer MAF sensor? All I see if Fullthrottle selling them.
IBBY

You can buy the sensor at GM.Most venders sell the translater but they all get them from Fullthrottle.

PS I have a good 3.5 maf sensor for sale.

Hope this helps

hello people; Thanks for the education. And how much for a used 3.5" MAF sensor?

hello people; I was reading about a MAF might being out of calibration. How would you recalibrate a MAF sensor for our cars?

The translator and modern MAF is the way to go if you plan to stay MAF. When I built my 67 Firebird/LC2 hybrid I was planning to go with a XFI set up once I got it going so I bought a new AC/Delco reman MAF from my local Chevy dealer and it works great and was $95. I have heard the autoparts store reman maf horror stories just like everyone else and I was concerned but the AC/Delco MAF looks to be much higher qaulity and no calibration issues.
