new owner 85 t type need help

hey my name is sam i just bought my first turbo car a 85 gn t type i bought it off my step dad and the car runs great but i have a few questions to ask about it. i dont think the car has ever been tuned other than when he put the rebilt engine in it

1. what is normal boost for a stock GN

2. how do i set the boost for a certin range

the car runs fine with the exception of when i floor it the boost gage pegs and it starts to tick or ping its only did that once since ive had it about 2 weeks i would greatly apreacte any info

That tick or ping your hearing is moxt likely knock. Is it hotter than usual where you are? if so this may be the reason. Turn the boost down and dont floor it until you get the problem sorted out. The stock setting is between 12- 15 on these cars each car a little different from what i noticed. To adjust it you would need an adustable actuator (small rod that hooks to the puck on the exhaust side) make it longer to lower boost and shorter to raise it. What kind of boost gauge do u have? Dont go by that digital stock type in the dash its garbage. To stop the ping you could also change to a cooler plug than stock like cr43ts acdelco. good luck let us know what happens

i moved that rod and it worked i now have 12 to 15 lbs of boost and can floor it and it doesnt knock thanks once again guys
