I just purchased a 87 WE4 T-Type and would like to know how to improve the performance a bit, the car has 59k on it and has already had a couple of mods installed. The mods are bigger MAFS, flowmaster exhaust, scanmaster and chip?, and duttwieler necks.
I would like to know of a couple of good vendors to talk to about a larger turbo, intercooler and prob. injectors?
I would also like the boards opinion on what I paid for the car and if I did ok, I gave 8k.
Thanks in advance for any info and or advice. Bob

Seems like a good deal.

Where are you located? Perhaps there's a vendor nearby you can actually go to, to discuss your needs. :)

Congrats...If it's your first, you'll be hooked. Get tuning tools.
Get the oil, water, and boost gauges. Get a fuel presure gauge,
important for tracking fuel vs boost proportions. Get a Scanmaster at the least as well. Then go ahead and start having fun!

I would get the car running right with what you have before you start spending money.
Do the spring cleaning
Run a test pipe if you can
I have seen post that flowmaster slow turbo cars down (I recommend Dynomax)
Get an alky system
Run Nitto DR
This should get you high 12s

Better fuel pump and hotwire kit for it are also very important mods.

hey guys thanks for responding thus far I should have noted that the car does have a scanmaster but I don't know what the heak it does and the car also has a walbro external fuel pump, boost gauge and A/F gauge in the a pillar. I also have a test pipe that was never installed, what is the purpose of this? Does it eliminate the cat? will it set of any lights on the dash if I eliminate the cat? Bob

If you get an adjutable wastegate you can crank the boost up to 22 psi; that's what my dad did and it runs awesome!:D

Hey Bob -

Congrats on the purchase. Any pics to share?

That price sounds pretty fair, actually, but hard to judget without seeing the car, etc.....

For perspective, I paid $14,900 for mine three years ago with 19k miles on the clock and bone stock. I've seen Kirban selling some recently with 20k miles for around 18k.

WE4's are funny. Some people like the rarity, some don't really care, so I see value fluctuating quite a bit on them.
