New Owner, need some recommendations :-)

Hello,
I finally received my tta, its still pretty dirty from the cross country transport but that will be resolved tomorrow. Upon first drive and going over the car, I need to do a couple things and could use some recommendation. ok, heres the list. Thanks in advance

1. Tires are the originals, got alot of dry rot and worn alot. What are the best recommendations for replacements closest to stock?? I do not think the ZR50's are available anymore so is there another goodyear that is similiar?

2. I am trying to find out my sequence number? I tried the links on the 89tta.com site but they are all down? DOes anyone know another way of finding it out. I know it will come with the kit from PHS but that may not be here for a little while and I am dying to know??

3. The car is running a little rough. I am pretty sure the original plugs are still in there. What the best recommendation for a replacement plug for a stock vehicle?

4. I hear from other post that wires are a common problem. Is a broken wire pretty noticable or is it a crack on the inside and you do not find the problem until replacing them. Which ofcourse leads me to my next question, best replacement wires? something the same color as the stock anniversary wires?

well, anyway, I am so happy to finally own one of these cars. I can't wait to get her cleaned up.

So how much did you pay for it? How did you get it transported? and from where to where?

1.Tires- http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...partnum=45YR6GFTAKDW&fromCompare1=yes&place=3 I personally like those tires. They look good on the TTA.

3.What grumpy said. Stick to the stock plugs.

4. I have Red Armstrong's plug wires on my car. They fit good but a little tight around the downpipe. His number is 440-235-3232

I know you have already read this a million times but buy a scanmaster and learn to tune the car. It will save the headaches of fixing a car that shouldnt need to be fixed. Good looking car.

If you're changing the plug wires and they are origianl, do not discard them.

Do a Spring Cleaning for starters. Again, if you replace any rubber parts with the TTA writing, save'em, they are hard to get nowadays. Replace the plugs with stock plugs, not the plugs (for GN's) in the spring cleaning page.

Get a good fuel filter and good fuel in there too

Hey all - re: the fuel filter - what's the quick and easy (or just right) way to depressurize the fuel system to replace the fuel filter. I read the SM and can't say I understand how they suggest doing it....

I get the car set up to make the change and wait 30 minutes for the fuel pressure to be less....Then break the seal at one end of the filter with a couple wrenches. Put rags around the joint to catch the spray, wait a bit and then remove it. The first time, I removed the valve stem at the end of the fuel rail to reduce pressure, but there was still a little fuel draining from the fuel system, just not under pressure.

Don't smoke while your're doing this

I always pull the fuel pump fuse, crank the engine a couple of times then open the fuel tank cap to releive any pressure in the tank as well.

No matter what you do you will have fuel pooring out of the pipes and the filter it self. But doing the above you will have no pressure in the system.

Plenty of rags and be quick to get the new filter in there (notice the flow direction).

i have good year gsc tires on mine... i like that tire. they came stock on my '98 and i have been pleased with them.

Jan - pull the fuse, crank it and that's it? Or do you do that in addition to some other bleeding of the system you didn't mention?

Yep that's all I do, pull the fuse crank it a couple of times and pressure is gone. Still fuel in the lines though ...
