I just replaced a my PCV with the correct GM one, and i noticed when i was out puttering around, that it now has oil all over it, and around it. What can be the cause of this, and it something i should worry about?
TIA
Kevin

i just put in a GM PCV and it doesnt leak. is yours in the hole tight and are the hoses secure on both ends? also you might need a new PCV hole grommet. parts stores sell grommets but im not sure if they have the right ones. i bet the dealer has them. also your intake gasket has to have a valley in it or else oil may get sucked in the PCV valve.

Is there something that relieves the crankcase pressure?, i think this is my problem. DOes one of the vendors sell this?
Thanks
Kevin

you could try a inline check valve which is about 20 bucks...that releases crankcase pressure...but i had a problem with it...check my thread about "this is getting really annoying" i kept getting a code 44 at idle and the ses light would always come on after 60 seconds of idling...i went back to my regular hose to the delco pcv valve and problem went away...

I went to the HELP isle at Autozone and looked for a gromment that was similar to mine when I needed one. I eventually found a PCV grommet from an AMC that was similar. Actually, it was a better fit, and no more leaks!!!

Best way to prevent crank case pressure is to put a breather on one or both valve covers.

They'll flow more than any thing that could possibly try and force pressure in.

Yep, i have them on both, ones a bit dirty, so when i get the car back im going to clean it, to see if that helps some.

i guess i'll never figure out why people want to suck oil vapor in their intake on a boosted car

Guess not.

oh yea forgot to mention my motor is apart now to get a girdle put on it and everything in it is clean as it was when put together

i also enjoy being able to run 24# boost on 93 octane without knock no alky and im running higher compression due to running single shim shim head gasket that is .042 thinner than stock gasket.

might as well burn deisel fuel to start with if your going to add oil in it
