Site Owners, Moderators,

I understand we already have a Show Car and Body Restoration section under the Misc section of the Forum, but I feel this deals more with frame off restorations.

I was wondering how many would want a new section under the Tech Section of the forum to discuss car care products such as Compounds, Polishes, Waxes and Wheel/Tire care. Also to discuss certain techniques used as well as what tools/machines are being used. It can also include tutorials and how tos if anyone feels generous enough to tell us their secrets.

I am also aware of larger car care sites such as AutoGeek and Autopia, but I feel having this new section can help us determine which products/techniques work best for our cars.

Thank you

I'm guessing no one wants a section to discuss paint products, compounds, polishes, waxes, DAs etc???

I think its an awesome idea too.... like polishing / restoring aluminum wheels, underhood cleaning .polishing painting etc etc maybe even lighting upgrades, window /light tinting techniques, interior dissassembly for cleaning and repair etc....

Im in the process of gathering the stuff to strip my Kirban GNX rims of clear coat and just polish the aluminum. If the section goes up I can do a how to.

I am also going with LEDs for all my Interior lighting so I can also post part numbers and such as soon as they come in and get around to installing them.

What's wrong, Dave, don't want anymore classes over at my garage? Tuition is only a few bottles of grape Gatorade!

John

That PURPLE DRANK!!!
John, you know I can't bother you with my 44 footer paint.

In all seriousness leaving all the chips and missing chunks of paint alone. Do you think starting off with an abbrasive rubbing compound and working my way up will do much of anything? Don't feel like wasting my time on the paint when I can focus on something else such as the rims or undercarriage.

It's really all in what type of results you expect and we can certainly bring it to a higher state than where it is now. Let's get together this weekend and try a few different pad/compound combinations. Obviously, you're going to want a respray sometime in the near future, but we should be able to bring out whatever luster is left in the old girl.

Regards,
John
