The new 2007 Pontiac Solstice will have a turbo and intercooler. 265 HP. What parts would you guys start buying for the current/future Solstice which might appreciate after GM stops making them? I was thinking floor mats, all kinds of sales brochures, emblems, steering wheel, etc.

If you are going to rathole stuff, or play the futures market on eBay than buy the stuff that usually gets discontinued first. Before you do that maybe make freinds at the local Pontiac dealer so you access to the parts catalog. I assume you are going to join all of the clubs. That will give you an idea of what is going on. Usually its the interior stuff that goes first. Items that only get replaced under warranty are the stuff that there isn't a lot of. That never made sense to me because when the car gets around 10 years old is when you start thinking about replacing seat covers and dash trim. By than GM has all of that stuff discontinued. Parts that get replaced in collisions or normal wear items I wouldn't stock up on. Especially parts that interchange with another model. Accesories like floor mats are usually discontinued after they stop making the car. People finance those parts when they buy the car so there isn't a big demand until 10 years later when you cant buy the stuff. I would keep an eye on how many of what model they make. Say for example they only end up making 500 GXP's. Than anything GXP exclusive is what you want. Right now I've had a few unscrupuless(sp) used car lots looking for the parts to convert them over to a "first 1000" model. Stupid idiots, any GM dealer can run the VIN to see if it is legit collectible. You've got to have deep pockets to play this game. I dont do it because the return on your investment isn't there. Sure I've sold a lot GN stuff and doubled my money but it isn't worth the time unless you do it as a full time job.

Ok Tom, when I buy that GXP, I'll come to you for the "first 1000" emblems. That should really piss off Eric Fisher ;)
