i just put my new th350 built by tci with a rev manule valve body, the stall is a pats 4000 10" stall all new, it also has a trans brake and a tci 2qt extra sump.

I put 1 qt in the stall before it was put on the trans, then ran the car thru the gears and nu , i took 8 more qt s this makes 9 qts, it is reading full . problem is first will move and try to spin the tires, but there is no rev at all i even tried to rev it to a fast 4000 and nothing.

is 9 qts low and my dip stick wrong , it was from the 200r4 that was in the car, i thought they took like 10-12 qt all new .

please help because if the trans wont work the car is sold i cant take a bad trans again 4 in a row with all my cars:(

i give up, i put more fuild in and still nothing what so ever in rev i mean it wont do any thing.

Are you running the transmission on jackstands I hope?

Perhaps your shifter adjustment is off? Have you tried disconnecting the shifter and putting the transmission in reverse manually?

Do the trans-brake and all forward gears work?

The TH350 takes 4 quarts. Add two for the deep pan and 3 more for the 10" converter and that makes 9. You should be good there.

i know that 1st works, i didnt drive it to see if the others work but it fells like they do, i dont have the trans brake wired up yet it the type with the alum solenoidson the back. should i hook it up and try it brfore i guess i have to pull this thing.

what else could it be, or is this bad news:(

It would sure help to know if the transbrake worked. It activates the same clutches that are used in reverse. If the transbrake does work and the transmission has second gear as well then all the clutches in the transmission are functional.

Are you sure the transmission has an aluminum solenoid? TCI doesn't use aluminum solenoids. What part number transmission do you have?

sorry iam not sure of the part #, i got the trans with the car and was told it was built by tci, the aluminum solenoid also sucks in on the back you can push it in , might help with what one it is.

i will wire the trans brake up today and check it, so if it works then it might just be something in the valve body, who knows how long the trans was setting when he had it.

thanks for trying to help me out here :)

some transbrakes set up's you must push transbrake button with shifter in rev. for rev. to work. hook it up and try again. len

really , thats new to me buit worth a try for sure, i hope your right

thanks

most transbrake's are like that.

well i try it and it will move in 1st gear , move in 2nd gear and move the car in 3rd gear, still nothing in rev, so i tried the trans brake in rev and nothing , so i put the car in 1st gear and the trans brake on and the car just moves , trans brake is not working to.

ok now what guys, should i pull the pan and see what up , could the trans brake do this if they put it in wrong . I can hear the solenoid pull in and my brother said it did but it wont do any thing.

so does this mean its something to do with the trans brake or the rev now,

thanks for every ones time also you huys are good people :D

is there something else i can check or try, if not let me know and i'll start pullingit out sat.

thanks
kevin

Put a press. guage on it & see if it has press. in R I'm guessing & only guessing that maybe a seal is torn or some other internal leak.

where can i get the press gauge, i cant find any one that has it, would it be something that can be maybe fixed with the trans in the car or should i just pull it and take it to the shop.

As LV GN stated, some trans-brakes need to be activated for reverse to engage. If your TH350 transmission has a TCI trans-brake valve body, it does not need the trans-brake to have reverse.

If you have 1st through 3rd gears but no reverse, something is wrong with the low/reverse clutch or the valve body. Before removing the entire transmission, I would remove the valve body and separator plate, identifiy it and have it chcked by the respective manufacturer.

i have the trans pulled i did it tonight. i might pull the pan and check this valve body out to see what kind it is tho before i take it to the shop monday.

i'll let you know how all go's

thanks
kevin
