Hey everbody just got done puttin my 204/214 cam in and put a new chain
its a edlebrock 7829 and i was just wonder if I need to use the slack adjuster
chain almost looks tight but it still has play so i put the adjuster against it to get the slack out seems ok but was just wondering if anybody else has used the same chain
Thanks

You do NOT use the tensioner with a double roller. :D

EDIT: because it will tear up the pad and end up in in the pan, throughout the motor, etc.

boss

Also there is a BOSS or what ever it is called cast into the front cover that the timing chain can rub on some if not all double roller chains. It is located where the very top of the cam gear will run. Don't have a clue what it is for. I take a die grinder and remove most of it.

I think this is the boss Lee is talking about. I have a double roller on mine and it didn't hit. But after looking at it, I may go ahead and remove it on my new cover, just to be safe.
