Im thinking about running 93/alky but was wondering if you have to manually turn up the boost every time ur running the alky and then turn it back down when your just running straight 93 oct.

If so, does that mean i have to manually turn up/down the boost w/ the wastegate rod?

The newer progressive kits will ramp up the flow of alky based on demand; I always tune for the alky, and make sure the tank is full.

A favor please- use real words instead of text slang:D

first i have to say WWW.ALKYCONTROL.COM then second if you plan on running 23 psi lets say then with alky you can run that 24/7 no need to play with boost. i leave mine at 25 psi but change my timing when i goto the track. not enough room left for error on the street since you are mostly already moving when you decide to lay down the hammer in which the boost comes on faster and can cause some unwanted knock in high gear

Consider getting a kit that offers a real failsafe. For example, the system should have some way to monitor that the system is actually injecting and is not clogged. If you have an electronic boost controller the failsafe should be able to disable it if there is no flow...and bring you down to wastegate pressure. If there is flow it will enable your boost controller and let you boost as much as you have it set for.

If you have a manual boost controller, the failsafe should have a 3 way valve that can disable your manual boost controller when there is no flow, enable it when you have flow.

Its the only sure fire way to make sure you only boost high when you are injecting. It make certain you dont have a clog, you are not out of water and you dont have a hardware failure.

This is an important part of any water injection kit which is why we made it an option, there are several kit makers that have this ability.

This is where education on Turbo Buicks is needed. Once the WG rod is cranked down, there is no way to bleed of pressure. This is a Buick not a Honda.

I had to read the original post 3 times to see what SouthernCal GN was talking about. I didn't even see the text slang. Funny what you get used to......because it used to bug me too.......but now I'm used to it.

i run a q-boost manual controller on my car and love it! i set the wastegate with 1/8" preload on it so probably 13-14psi, and then the manual controller has a brass housing with a allen screw in it that i adjusted until i saw 16psi(for 93 octane if out of alky) and then there is a grainger valve that i twist a couple times to achieve 21psi for the alky. works great for me:) here's a pic i hope! not the prettiest engine bay but it works for me:D

Yup!

Get that 60' down, and turn up the boost! Trap speed isn't bad, tho.....

yea thanks, im a college student so i hit the old wall on funds for a little while. been lookin for a th dp, get rid of the old...i think torque tech 3" dp that my dad put on the car when he owned it! workin on the 60ft. hopefully soon too, have a PTC 10" i need to put in. those times in the sig were just me takin the car directly to the track from school for fun!

oh and im sure an intercooler upgrade would help too, not to mention a wideband so i can turn the boost up and tune it! gotta stay safe for now!

Just think.. with a 1.6 60 foot it would be running 11.40's ;)

Sounds like a good, simple way to manage boost. Would be a good way to put a safeguard in too.

where do most of you guys get your methanol from?? Anyone know any places around the chicago land area?

Most shops out by me in the west burbs have it or can order it. Usually 5 gallon drums I think. I know Street Stuff in Addison usually has a can sitting there. I got lucky on my source...A buddy has a BUNCH of extra air brake anti-freeze... :) Straight methanol. Buying it instead of a can wouldn't be cheaper though, only reason I use it is it's free... Plus its easier to toss quart bottles in the trunk then a big can...

Since i currently let my chip control my boost, what else would i need to purchase besides the alky kit itself?

haha ya i know that but in order to turn my boost up/down wouldnt i need a manual boost controller or an adjustable wategate or both??
