Quite literally she is a basket case. Original engine and trans long gone, interior is pretty much all there but needs to be redone. Unfortunately I think the grass seed that was in it probably helped contribute to the floor pan rust. The car is solid other than some rust in the floor and some in the t bar. It also has rust around the drain above the wiper motor on the cowl so i will have to get a firewall to make patch panels from. My ultimate plan for this is to restore stock looking but seeing as how the original engine and trans is gone it needs a upgrade so I’m thinking 86-87 GN engine and trans. I’m currently cleaning it up before I put it in the garage. Also pretty much gutting the interior

That's the car that got me hooked on GNs. Burn it down!

Haha I kid. No lie, I was a youngster sitting in the front seat of my dad's van. One of those turned in front of us and I was instantly in love. I professed my love to my dad and he said 'its ugly!', so being the smartass I am I told him 'you're stupid.' And I ment it, it was a statement. He backhanded me. Old dumb ass lol.

It’s going to be quite a undertaking but I think it’ll be a awesome project for me and my youngest daughter

I never expected to own these two

Had to laugh, the famous backhander. Had many of them and if he thought it was deserved got the backhander of the fist, those usually resulted in a lump and the taste of blood. Got the last one when I was 19, I was driving "my" truck and he told me to slow it down. Doing 55 in a 55 so told him I was doing the speed limit and enjoy the ride. Wrong move, that fist came across from the passenger seat and knocked my head against the window. Had forgot all about those until your post. Thanks a lot!
Do you think we may have the same Dad?

Great find. That's going to be a long term project. I wouldn't be overly ambitious. Keep it simple and get it running and driving with an NA engine and spend your time and money on the restoration.

It’s for sure long term I’ve thought about doing a frame off on it haven’t fully made up my mind

Rough, but looks to have many of the special parts. Did you get the driver's seat as well?

I think it's a perfect candidate for a 86/87 drivetrain.

Slap on a set of bumper filler and it will looks 100% better.

Yes I’ve got all the seats only things I’m missing that are specific is the air dam and wheels. Everything else is here thank goodness. It unfortunately had a pretty rough life. I looked on the registry and it is not on there it needs to be added

I got tired of hitting my head on the stupid windshield so I removed that problem. The windshield was loose in the drivers bottom corner and I found a couple small pinholes that will have to get tacked up. I haven’t cleaned the full windshield channel out will do that tomorrow and see what other issues I have. Fortunately it looks like the bottom of the a pillars are ok so it will probably just be the header panel that gets replaced. Also got the header panel and hood off and started removing the fenders until the passenger bottom bolt started spinning because of the speed clip. So I’ll have to cut the bolt. No biggie. Making progress

Moving right along as I took a break from it last night to do some work on the Indy. This evening I’ve removed the passenger fender (inner and outer) the heater box is now removed. This car definitely shows evidence of being parked under a tree at one point the drains for the heater box are completely blocked which probably attributed to the floor pan rust. There is some scale around it with a couple very very small pinholes where the engine harness goes through under the box. Also doing the very important steps bagging and tagging. I also got the drivers side fender removed and found some more rust around the parking brake cable where it goes through the firewall. I removed the headlight and engine harness. Tomorrow I will try and remove the core support, the bumpers and taillights. I have a shelf in my building I will be bringing back down to the garage to help keep the parts safe and organized. Thankfully when I put this back together I’ll have the Indy to use for reference for most stuff.
