I'm in the mince of buying a 85 GN that needs some TLC but the motor is strong. It just needs paint and some minor interior pieces.I plan on doing a real satin black paint job with some gloss black fat and skinnies, hence the name TheReaper. The car is gonna look like death coming down the road. I stumbled across this site looking for how to switch to a 86-87 turbo setup. I' have learned more about GN/TRs in the past two days then ever before. These cars are amazing and stunning cars, I've always wanted on and never could afford one. I come from a muscle car famliy and I've been into hondas so its been alittle wierd. I will post some pics and start asking questions as soon as I pick it up.

Welcome.
Update your location in your profile and post pics/ask questions before you buy.

I deffently will do that. I going for a 10sec true street car, so I imagine I will have alot of questions.

That is a very aggressive goal, but doable.
There is only one “Non IC’d car” that is known to break into the 10’s at the time of this writing.
Others will be there shortly.

With your goal, I would predict you will swap to an IC’d set-up shortly down the road.
You would be better off spending the $$$$$ up front and buy a 10 second car if that is your goal. Some NICE 10 second cars for sale.
To get into the 10’s in street trim, it will cost $15 - $20K, depending on how determined you are. That is just a guess.
Not trying to discourage you, but need to be honest.

Get this car, turn the boost down, and you have 10 seconds all day.

I was planning on switching over to a 86/87 style set up. 10's will be later down the road but thats what I want.

DUde, unless you are getting this car retardedly cheap, just get an IC car if you want an IC car. There's plenty of them out there. Why do you NEED a 10 second street car anyway? I guarantee you could do the normal mods to that hot air motor and whoop up on 95% of the cars on the road. I mean really, how many PROVEN 10 second hondas are cruising the streets down there? Besides, no sense in switching out the whole setup and defacing the ride when you can pump an alky setup and kill 2 birds with one stone:)

I don't mean to jack his thread but how much would it cost to add alky injection to an 84 TR.?. It's bone stock with the exception of a boost guage and a aftermarket system..

Razor Kit-$600 plus one long days labor. The hardent part is remoing the turbo in order to attach the nozzle. Brad

IC cars I would have to take out a loan and I hate modfiying something I'm paying for. I found this car for 2800 but come to find out he sold it yesterday, so I'm looking again. I want a 10sec car because I have a 11sec car now and I want to go faster. Why I want a 10sec street car is I hate cars that come out here tring to race our STREET cars but they have to trailer there stuff out there. There is nothing like driving to the track with the ac on and running a good number and be able driving to drive back with the ac on. Instead of having a trailor car. I just want a GN/TR is that too much to ask? Thanks for all the comments.

Speaking from my own experience;)
Jerryl is in the right range for cost
Get a IC car
Even A IC car will also have to be modified to get in the ten's
And hold together

I agree with Jerrryl and Conn84. If the goal is 10's quarter do not waste your time on a hot air and cut it up. Cheaper to go for the IC car on the front end. Good luck. Brad

Pick up a project and go to town. I would ASSume if you have an 11 sec car you would be capable of a fixer upper and beings you gotta tear the whole fricken thing down anyway you can build it with whatever good stuff you want. I got mine for 2k. Yup I'll have a buttload of dough into it when its done but I'll still have a better car than what I would have with the money I'm putting into it. I can almost guarantee you won't find a COMPLETEly trashed car for that price now, but for 2800 bucks you should be able to find a mostly complete IC car that needs lots of hugs;)
