I just install my ta61 by john craig my car seam super sluggish now ,but heat and humidty where super high today and when i nail it it had high knock and nose dive in high gear . I figured out the nose dive, but the sluggishnees any ideas to help me tune to this turbo to get my ride back up to snuff.thanxs randy

Did you flatten the header mounting flange in preparation for the perfectly flat turbo mounting surface?

Usually the header flange and old turbo will warp in unison so no leak. Once you put a new turbo on there will be a gap where the two meet....and the exhaust gases escape before going into the turbo.

Assuming you didn't flatten the flange remove the turbo and take an 8" grinding wheel and rub the side of it back and forth over the header flange until it's flat again. This takes time so be prepared. Bring beer and spare women. :D

What stall is your converter?

We went from a 49 to a 61 on one car and it was real sluggish until we put a 3200 stall Kenne Bell 9/11 in it. After that it ran REAL good

FWIW...
Don't forget to stuff a rag in the header, or use a vacume whenever grinding on the header. No sense in toasting a new turbo with metal shavings that have fallen into the header due to resurfacing.
Just my O2's worth.

dont forget to check your wastegate that could be a simple and cheap way to fix, it happened to me when i went from a te61 to a te63
