Been reading all over the 'net that the new ZO6 Vette with the LS7 (427ci 7-liter) motor which is rated at 500hp should run mid to high 11's @127mph right off the showroom floor (also heard 0-60 is right around 3.7 secs)... Curb weight is said to be 3100lbs... Sounds like it should be one bad mofo for the balding Midlife crisis guys that can afford it:D ;)

What have you heard and what do you think?

I am balding and starting my mid-life crisis - I sure wish I could afford it! Any ideas on the price of the new Z06?

LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7. Powertrain makes the baddest azz pushrod motors for mass consumption. You can get an LS2 crate motor for $5K. LS7 has Ti rods. THIS is the muscle car era...

strike

:D

With a respectable 60' for street tires, I fully expect that car to go at least mid-11s!

Guess I need those ported heads and cam now!!!

Geez The big three are really putting the pressure on us aren't they. Makes me wonder if the horspower bubble is going to burst soon. There is a report out there that Saudi Arabia has WAY overestimated their production figures and that they will be spent in 15 years. If this is the case, makes me think the focus in Detroit might shift. In the meantime wahooo.

Now, give us another Camaro GM and drop that puppy in there for under 35k!!

I'll believe it when I see it.

... and if it does, there are going to be a LOT of wrecked Z06's.

Like most of these new hot cars, if any show up where I race, they'll likely be 0.5 to 1.0 sec slower than advertised.

Cool car nonetheless though.:D

I was with my Ford rep today, he confirmed 06 Cobra 450HP.

$62,500 starting price for the new Z06:(

The prices have not yet been released and estimates vary wildly, from high $50s to low $70s. It seems GM has been able to keep this one secret and some say there is still internal debate going on between departments about the price point.

Even the #s in magazines (like Car and Driver) are just estimates-- no one has had it for performance testing yet.

Lots of good info on this at www.corvetteforum.com in their C6 Z06 section.

For those who are interested, here is a very nice technical write up on the motor from SAE:

That is all me and my friends have been talking about. Need to step it up a couple notches before I run into one of those. With those kind of stock times just think what that thing will do with some mild bolt-ons and some drag radials. low 11's -high 10's:eek:
My cousins neighbor is getting one ( in the last couple of years he has owned a 800hp supra, a 800hp viper, and some turbo porsche with astermarket turbo's) and he is already talking to the guys at Magnuson (sp).

427 factory small block! :) :D . Great engine in an excellent chassis, trim, light, and nice looking body(won't please everyone, but looks good), and for the price probably the best sports car value there is...anywhere. GMs best!

Of course almost everything else they have blows.

My son, J-rod, who posts here, has been a best of 11.59 in his '02 Z06 with M/T ET Streets and the airbox lid removed. Other than that, it's bone stock, straight as it came off the showroom floor. Of course, it took lots of track time to get those launches right.

Yep pretty sure I've seen your son post on LS1tech as well... That is very impressive!

Hopefully somebody like your son gets their hands on a new ZO6 to drag test it (would make for an interesting read in GMHTP)
