newbie - need help deciding on combo

bought a 87 gn - have to build a motor and rebuild the tranny - want to go in the mid 10 sec range - any advice????

will be at the midwest challenge at us rt 41 on the 13 and 14.
hope to meet some gn ppl and get some info - possible combo.
